8.09 round n stick pearls swarovski $67 1 of a kind necklace with Pearls and swarovski crystals with SS toggle $67.00 by Tammy Vitale

How much is your work worth?  How much are you asking for it? (would it support you as a full time lifestyle choice?)  How much will your clients pay?

Melanie Ward writes:  Here's one of the scenarios I often hear from my clients – "I'm not attracting the kind of clients I want." Maybe they are attracting people who are broke, too overwhelmed, too attached to their stories, not committed to achieving results, late payers, energy drainers…You name it…

She goes on to talk about how YOU are feeling:  broke?  overwhelmed?  And says you cannot expect to attract a 10 when you're feeling like a 5.

Do you believe with your heart and soul and integrity that you and your product are worth a fair exchange?  Do you feel like selling your work is selling out?  Do you tell yourself your work just isn't as good as (fill in the blank) and so you should charge less?  Would you pay a million dollars for a stuffed shark (I think it was actually $6M but you get the drift) just to put it in a warehouse?

What if you changed the stories you tell yourself about your work; how might your beliefs change?  Do you think that would affect your business?

This morning, my Pug, Gracie, got stung by a hornet and within 5 minutes was holding her leg up, did not come for a treat (anyone who knows Pugs knows this could definitely be a dire situation), was panting hard (and they can't breathe to start with).  I had her at the vets in 5 minutes (literally).  I did not care how much I was going to pay ($81.43), I wanted her to be okay.  To me that was more than a fair exchange (and I routinely complain about how much well-care visits cost for our Puggies).

Money is only energy.  When you create something, you create with energy.  When you sell something (or buy something) you are exchanging energy.  Nothing more.  What would happen if you relaxed and were open to others who were ready and willing to exchange energy with you?  No selling, just exchange.

When was the last time you bought something for yourself that make you really happy, that still makes you happy every time you see or use it?  Would you like to share that feeling with someone else who loves your work?  Both of you are worth it!

thought for the day (#1) (you're in luck, today's a twofer day!)

You can check out a quick video of it here :  50 folks all over 65 talking about wisdom.  Saying things like:

"You can't get to wonderful without going through all right"  Bill Withers; "The answer to difference is to respect it, not to fight about it."  John Hume.  Just what I needed this morning, by the way.  50 people actually older than me talking about life that is being (not has been) lived.  Awesome.

thought for the day (2): The challenge is to consciously choose our own myth, lest it be chosen for us by the collective mind.  Mary Elizabeth Marlow

  • Fabulous post, Tammy. You and I are definitely on the same wavelength (again, still)! I love the energy in your (written) voice ~ I feel it.

And the video is amazing. Thank you!

  • I especially love your blue/silver pieces! Beautiful.

I hope your pug Gracie feels better soon. Poor thing!

  • This post gives me a lot to think about. It is all about energy and one thing I have been doing more this year is investing in myself and treating myself better. Paying for massages, pedicures, classes and even housecleaning! What I have found is that it helps me feel better about myself and I feel like I keep the money (energy) flowing and in turn my energy and attitude help me create the work I want to.
    Thanks!

  • the necklace on bottom right really speaks to me. toothy and powerful-like. as for money exchange, yesterday i had someone email me about one of my mandalas that he wanted to use for his biz logo. i wrote back to him without batting an eye and told him what my licensing fees were. a couple of days before i had heard on a teleseminar to charge what you are worth and that where your client's money came from was none of your business. that infused me with power. and i've not heard anything back and don't suspect i will and that's ok with me.

  • Tammy, thanks for this post, it catches me just where I stand at the moment:) and helped me to relax this morning.
The necklaces, I love the blue one, they are precious!
    love
Andrea (from sunny and cool vaccation, where I think a lot about the things you are talking about…)

  • Excellent post, Tammy. I like the thought that money is only energy and the exchange of money for creative work is an exchange of energy. I certainly have experienced the positive energy of being "up" at a show, and having that energy pass from my work, through me, and on to customers who love it; it's a great feeling. I've also experienced the opposite, which isn't so great; the exchange of negative energy seems to only drain all involved. Here's hoping we can both sustain the positive…
