Stx_iita_labrynth St Francis Xavier Mission in Arizona, I’Ita Labrynth

Thought I’d switch things up today and show you some of my recent artistic influences.  I love that the First Peoples have a labrynth legend that is so strong the symbols are built into a Catholic mission’s architecture.   I have since incorporated this symbology into much of my work (but don’t have a photo at the moment to share.  Maybe tomorrow after the current kiln load cools).  The difference between a labrynth and a maze is that if you just keep walking in a labrynth you will come out the same spot you entered.  With a maze, you can get lost.

On Thursday, Tammy Watier (Tam’s Originals web master) and I went together to the PRISM (Public Relations Individuals in Southern Maryland) meeting at the Tides Restaurant in Lexington Park for a mixer.  These things are always interesting, although never as comfortable as our Women in Harmony meetings.  This particular mixer led to meeting another Tami (what are the chances that in a room of 15 people there will be 3 Tammys?) of The Baynet, as well as the Editor in Chief and President.  This is a new website for Southern Maryland news, chats, classifieds, columns, etc.  At the very least another spot for free PR.  Possibly, if we talk some more, a place to start a column on Southern Maryland’s Art Scene.  It’s growing, and if folks can’t see it yet, why perhaps all we need is a column so that folks start paying attention.  I’d love to write that!  Would also give me a good reason to get other artists to talk to me/call me and tell me what they’re doing.  There would be a place for photos just like print media.  I’m a believer that on-line is the coming wave if for no other reason than ease of transmission anywhere around the world.

It’s always good to get out and see what the rest of the world is doing!

Thought for the day:  "The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature."  Joseph Campbell

"Think of something about which you are absolutely certain, such as your home address or the color of your car.  This is the energy of Attracting.  No anxiety.  No worry or doubt.  Just plain old confidence.  You’re self-assured and at ease.  That relaxed energy – when applied to your intended outcome – is like the lighting on an airport runway.  That attitude signals to your heart’s desire that it’s safe to land…right here in your life." Victoria Castle, The Trance of Scarcity
