Art Every Day Month (AEDM) Days 1 – 10 for 2019

I am not blogging.  I AM doing Art Every Day Month AND NaNoWriMo (which I did for the first time last year and nailed my 50K words for the month.  We’ll see this year).  I’m also supposed to be aiming at 10K steps daily (but have fallen down these last 3 days).  All of which is to say I keep pretty busy and blogging has gone way down the list because:  who reads blogs anymore?

I post on FB and no one even likes them.

Which is to say, everyone is on FB and Instagram and that’s where I’ve been posting my art daily.  There are days I miss blogging.  But they are few and far between.

The point of this blog is to catalog my art for this year, as I have every year for the last 10 or 12 while participating in Art Every Day Month, started and maintained by the amazing Leah Kolidas.  I greatly appreciate all her work towards creating this community (and the communities on FB and Instagram).

AEDM Day 1

AEDM Day 2

AEDM Day 3

The sketch (first picture) was for the painting (2nd picture).  I finished it for AEDM this year (3rd picture)

AEDM Day 4

Working on designing and making earrings as gifts (which is why you’ll see no finished products. )  also started sorting and organizing my beads, a never ending job, especially since I’m so rarely at my work bench these days.  I wonder if everything were organized if I would use it more?

AEDM Day 5

Working on a jacket for my granddaughter.  The one I made for her when she was 3, that first fit as a duster and finally as the jacket it was supposed to be, is now too small.  I”m hoping this will last a year or two given the rate she’s growing.  At 10 she is as tall as her Mom!

AEDM Days 6 – 9

LOTS of hand sewing (all of it is hand sewing):  applique flowers on the butterfly material on the back; tacking laces together and then sewing them on cuffs and pocket flaps; the start of buttons.  Unicorn appliques have been ordered.

which brings us to

AEDM Day 10

Running late on this, I gave myself half and hour, took 45 minutes.  The idea was to just “go” and not think about any of it.  9 x 12 on art journal paper, on a background that was gessoed and spray painted in October for just such an emergency.

I hope you have enjoyed this catchup!

  • Allison – thank you!

  • Hi Rita – thanks so much for coming over – I haven’t had time to do a lot of blog reading lately and have really missed reading your chatty weeklies. I hope you are feeling better these days and enjoying your birds. I have to come by and see how much snow you already have!

  • Elizabeth – Isn’t it wonderful how seeing each other yearly creates a connection? I always enjoy seeing you on AEDM, and notice that a lot of people signed up on the blog this year but the day I went to post there were only 3 others, while FB is very active. I do miss the old days when folks blogged. It loses something on FB.

  • Hi Erika – yes, I will blog Art Every Day pieces even if I only manage to do “catch up” blogs weekly. Thank you for your interest!

  • Cool collage art, and I love the jacket!

  • I only blog. No other social media. And this last year only blog once a week on Mondays (some weeks blogging is all I have managed to accomplish–been kind of a rough year). Looks like you have been very busy creating, though. Awesome! I hope you pop in to blog every once in a while so I know you’re okay. 🙂 🙂

  • Hi Tammy,

It’s so good to catch up with you again this year. I’m SO glad you are posting on your blog, because I’m ONLY a blogger. I don’t have time for any of that other social media stuff.

As usual, I love your diversity, from drawing, painting, making jewelry, and sewing by hand, to name a few. Your jacket for your granddaughter is fabulous. I’m sure she’s really going to love and appreciate all the work you have put into it. It’s already looking quite unique.

It’s really good catching up with you again, even though I’m running late today.

  • I don’t bother with most social media as it just takes up too much time. I like blogging as it gives me a chance to keep a journal of life and art. But I love seeing all your amazing pieces. Hope you share again on your blog.

  • Nicole – thank you! I look forward to “seeing” you there!

  • Tammy these are all spectacular. I have enjoyed seeing each piece. I am now following you on FB and will comment on you posts. Have a very nice Sunday.

  • Cath – thank you so much! And thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your time and kind words.

  • Wow! So much – and so varied – creativity. I love the magazine clipped words (one of my favourite things) but your faces are wonderful, as is your incredibly creative sewing…I particularly love the cuffs. Just looking at all this activity makes me feel tired, lol…
    Cath x
