Yes, I did work on my process piece yesterday. Did some sketches for it and played with how it’s going to come together. Did some collage and placed (but didn’t paste) some pieces to ponder.
The sketches got me started in my sketchbook, and I tumbled right into this tree. This is a fast piece: glob orange, rust and yellow on paper, scrape it with a credit card – boy does that make the paint dry fast! Too much paint, took the extra over to another sketch book for another day. Loaded up a dry brush, threw in some yellow highlights then zentangled the tree and highlighed with a JellyRoll white pen. Maybe an hour into the whole thing. Am thinking I could do a tree a day along with the process pieces. The energy is so different: one is NOW and the other is a slow trickle. I’m liking the juxtaposition!
Outside the fog is tangled in tree branches. The yellow mums glow through it like small suns with no rival from the actual sun which is muffled by couds in addition to fog. Out my front window the trees are trying out their own tangle of colors.
Here are the sketches I did for the process piece, and the layout.
I’m thinking about changing the humming bird to a fish and sea creatures but maybe that’s another, companion piece. I have several 24×36 pieces that I plan to repaint.
