Mask: Merlin, 15"t x 7"w x 4"d, hand sculpted, one of a kind, clay wall sculpture by Tammy Vitale, $125
So you voted, right?
You took your privelege and responsibility and stood in the rain, ignored the wind, enjoyed the warm, brought a book to read, chatted with your line mate, remembered a chair (if you need one), took along a great attitude of gratitude for this amazing thing we as Americans get to do.
For however long it takes, leave your cynicism or laziness behind and take the time to exercise the thing that makes us a republic (not a democracy, a republic – I'd vote for democracy given the chance, but that doesn't seem likely anytime soon).
The World is truely watching.
So, you voted, right!
Husband and I got up at 6 am, got ourselves to the local 7-ll to get coffee and arrived in line (yes, line) in the rain at 6:32 a.m. We vote at a firestation. By 5 minutes to 7 (when the poles open in Maryland) the line zigged itself halfway down the long side of the building. Husband has to go in to work earlier than usual today, so that's what we did. By the time we voted there was a jam in the parking lot and the line outside was no shorter than when the poles opened – with 4 lines for voting inside. We voted. We got our "I voted" stickers. I got a new Obama button on which I posted my "I voted" sticker. And then we went to Starbucks which is giving out free talls to those who vote. He had a donut, I had a blueberry scone (yum) and at 8:06 a.m. we've been home long enough to walk the dogs again and for me to format photos for this blog.
So here's my AEM 4th day offering…I finally got around to working on some 2D pictures, which is my goal for AEM. 3 to be exact, although I will only dole out 1 a day since I had to get ahead so that on my work days I don't get behind. Here is the first, Our Lady of Sky and Sea.
Crayon – it makes my inner child very happy.
thought(s) for the day: It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union.
There never will be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers.
Cautious, careful people, always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, never can bring about a reform. Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathy with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences.
Susan B. Anthony (Thanks, Susan, for earning me the right and responsibility which I exercised today).
GO VOTE!

He really does look like a Merlin! So you are a planner… that's why I struggle to keep up I can never plan enough ahead even though I want to. Your drawing looks full of joy and fabulous color. I've got to play with crayons more often! And thanks for the Susan B. reminder… we all need to remember and appreciate our current standing in this world was't always as it is today.
Congratulations USA! I am a Canadian who watched the whole thing, and to have a man "win" that kind of historic honor and then say it wasn't about him, but about YOU . . . brought tears to my eyes. And what a First Lady! I hope Prime Minister Harper was taking notes.
loving your "lady" crayon drawing…I can hardly believe that's what it is!! I will have to try it…taking a break from CNN to see what my blogging friends are up too. 🙂 Can only take so much of it and am thrilled it's finally OVER!
Tammy, GIRL, you're just voting now??? Early voting. Tammy. It's like… heaven. I waited like 20 minutes on Friday, and that was only because a man with a severe speech disability was in front of me trying to explain what precinct he was registered in. (Turns out, he was registered in a different county and couldn't vote here. We were sad for him, but I'm sure he drove there today to vote.) I listened to the two people in front of me talk about why they were voting for Obama (one was voting for him because her Grandma said "vote Obama", and EVERYBODY does what Grandma says… the other was voting for him because her family was voting for McCain, from what I gathered. Oh, yeah, I voted early ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS. Hence the wierd discussions in front of me. 🙂
Umm… that was random. Anyway, early voting was AMAZING, and I will definately have to do that during all major election years.
On campus, we got 2 free bags of a new flavor of Doritos for voting! :o) I can't wait to try them tomorrow for breakfast… Mmmmmm….
yes – that is an amazing mask – looks silver. I really like your metallic work.
Watching the coverage right now.
My line this morning at eleven o clock when I voted: 1 person. They were giving our pasteries there. And of course I scored on the Starbucks. What a treat.
your work with clay is amazing – really breath taking – thanks so much for sharing it!!
Peace–Ellie
Of course we all voted at my house! Got there about 8:15 – no real waiting. Election judges helped Brian so no one could contest his vote. I'm optomistic – not based on polls. The bookies are favoring Obama by a bunch:) They have more riding on this than pollsters.

I LOVE your image. It's really beautiful…and so colorful..you did this with crayons?!? That blue background is perfect with the orange.
I love your work! Your sculptures are amazing and the Joy girl is just wonderful – I love the colors and the sense of water behind her. Makes me want to pull out my crayons!!
And – I voted!!
