Barack and michelle

Congratulations to our new President elect: Barack Obama

We are not just one people of the United States of America;

we are one people of a increasingly smaller blue planet spinning through space.

I believe that we have all won big time!

I do not even know how to write about how ecstatic I am over this election.  It has been a VERY long time – in fact the last time I remember feeling this way about an election was John Kennedy and I was too young to vote.  That long.  I am so grateful that this has happened in my life time:  a movement toward unity, not division;  a movement to diversity, not elitism.  If anyone can do it, this man with the heart (and words and actions) of a community-based organizer – one who knows that goodness lies in all the people at the table – can.  Bravo, America!

2d Garden Goddess

Today's Art Every Day Month offering is Garden Goddess, crayon on dry media paper, 11.5" x 14".

I want to send a special thanks to my international readers who sent comments and private emails rejoicing in America's election.  You have shown me that the World IS watching.  I understand that we are all in this together.  Thanks for caring!

Thought for the day: YES WE CAN!!!!

  • I really like the way you use shapes – this one and the one that follows later (Astarte) show a unique style. I'll be coming back to watch more.

  • Yes we did! And furthermore, yes we WILL! We took the first step – with hopefully, many more to follow…

  • I can tell you that we Aussies, DownUnder, are ecstatic about Obama being President Elect. Our polls showed that around 75% of Australians wanted this to happen. This time, America got it right…YAY!

I LOVE your Garden Goddess painting!

  • Ooh! I really love your Garden Goddess… fabulous!

  • YES WE CAN, this is huge! And what a wonderful post. YES, the world is watching and is happy about this. I'm happy that I have met so many American friends here in Blogland who helped me to better understand what this change means!!!! Newspapers in France and Germany are so positive about this change, everywhere in the world is enthousiasm! Connection. Your garden goddess seems to be celebrating too:) love

  • What a beautiful post! I am so grateful I stopped. I am speechless over this wonderful victory and am celebrating in silence with a beautiful photo of nature as she continues on her eternal path.

    Blessings.

  • Hi Tammy! What a great day, and what beautiful weather to celebrate such a wondrous thing as what happened in our election yesterday! We are delirious around here. I posted about my mother today, you should go read it, she's an amazing person.
    Love, Ellie

  • Yes we did!
This out of Micheal Moore's note today:
"We may, just possibly, also see a time of refreshing openness, enlightenment and creativity. The arts and the artists will not be seen as the enemy. Perhaps art will be explored in order to discover the greater truths. When FDR was ushered in with his landslide in 1932, what followed was Frank Capra and Preston Sturgis, Woody Guthrie and John Steinbeck, Dorothea Lange and Orson Welles. All week long I have been inundated with media asking me, "gee, Mike, what will you do now that Bush is gone?" Are they kidding? What will it be like to work and create in an environment that nurtures and supports film and the arts, science and invention, and the freedom to be whatever you want to be? Watch a thousand flowers bloom! We've entered a new era, and if I could sum up our collective first thought of this new era, it is this: Anything Is Possible."
