This is a continuation of our chat last week: Do You Know Where You Are?
Knowing where you are is important because if you don’t know where you are, how can you measure whether or not it’s where you want to be (or what path to take on where it is you think you’re going)?
As exercises go, this one is short and sweet:
Is where you are where you want to be?
If yes, congratulations! Take a moment to reflect on and write a paragraph or two about that because, since life is a process, you’re going to want to remember this sweet spot when the next growth spurt happens!
If not, do you know why not?
Tell me the story of why you are not where you want to be and what the next step is to get there (there, for our purposes, being that sweet spot mentioned above). You do know your next step, right? You are planning on taking it, right? Tell me when you are taking that next step. Write it down here and make it real.
Because if you don’t have a next step, then where you think you want to be may not really be the thing you want to do. Actions don’t only speaker louder than words with other people. Actions speak louder than words for our own self, too (in our heads or on paper in a personal or business plan). If you haven’t taken any action to realize your current dream, you’d better review that dream (and where you are).
