Photo lizzies candle

Surprise!  Look what I got from Elizabeth Freeman across the Atlantic in England!

Aren't you jealous?!  Isn't this a lovely little oil painting and card?  Lizzie and I are blog pals and she sent this along just because.  I couldn't get the wick to photo up close – but it looks like it is on fire.  If you have ever seen a Van Gogh in person, you know what I'm talking about.  She's an amazing artist and I am blessed!  I'm hanging this little charmer right under my Vision Board…to remind me to light a candle instead of cursing the darkness. (and she's asking for some artistic support right now – do click over and help her!)

Today I spoke with a local non-profit Ex Dr and next week I will be meeting with her to discuss some strategic planning around marketing and fundraising.  I'm volunteering.  Felt like it was time to dive back into some right brain stuff so volunteered to help wherever at a recent United Way function and this is what came in.  I will be working with adult day care for a while.  And I'm looking forward to it.  Am also working atHeron's Way Gallery fairly often (3 days/2 weeks – alot for me)N-182 agate w focal and swarovski so that is helping to pay for the fuel that gets me around.  Have started playing with jewelry again (see one of the pieces here to the right – photos not cooperating there either – no good closeups), which is probably productive procrastination as I have assigned myself cleaning the studio this weekend while husband is out working the Virgin Festival.

Here are some more great Wyle Women sites for you to enjoy!

Musings from Mara - writing on the best workshop ever…"find 5 characters who live inside you and are part of you."  Which will remind some of you of Soul Collage, but after you read the post I don't think you'll get the two confused.  Great writing!

Rochambeau – a delightful site with lovely purses, dolls and this particular post, some awesome topiary from China.  Fun to just browse around!

37 Days which isn't a Wylde woman awardee although she should be.  I got to her site through the Lovely Leah of Creative Everyday.  The premise is:  what would you do if you had 37 days to live?  She is putting a book out and Leah has art in it (love Leah's works and loved what I've read so far on the blog, so I ordered it!)

My Cup 2 Yours – here's a Mom writing (excellently) about daily life and kids (ok, she's a published writer and that's even more reason to head on over and read).  Had to include her just to remind myself to drop in and read from time to time.

Jessie James Blog – because she's funny and her blog is a good way to start the day.

Ravn Design – just to show you that the award is traveling around and because she makes some spectacular cards.

Moving away from the Awardees, here's an interesting side for folks who want to trade art:  The Art Tree of The Main Artery.

Finally, here's a thought provoking post by CharleyAna of New Orleans who writes constantly about how New Orleans is no where near fixed so that we never forget.  She isposting about a young service woman who "committed suicide."  But of course she didn't.  Unfortunately we as women, and especially those of us who are Wylde Women, must keep reminding the world that some things STILL have not changed.  I hope you are outraged.  And I hope it moves you to do something.

thought for the day:  I believe the simple act of making something, anything, with your hands is a quiet political ripple in a world dominated by mass production…and people choosing to make something themselves will turn those small ripples into giant waves.  Faythe Levine  quoted in American Craft" magazine August/September 2008
