Adobe finally allowed me to get in although it and my photo card are definitely playing some kind of "catch me if you can" game. Here's the promised finished (maybe, mostly, I think) 36" x 36" canvas I tried to get up the other day…it is the final of the canvas I showed you in my January 14 post.
and I just got done pulling a really nice batch of hand-made beads with "goose-bumps" which I love. I'm definitely moving in the right direction and mostly have that process figured out. I can pull a "stringer" too, a thin glass rod from a larger glass rod. I'm feeling pretty pleased with myelf. Enough so that I will make jewelry with these. They are not perfect (picture to come), but will make a nice piece anyways, I think. I know that some day I will look at them and go "what was I thinking!" but if they catch someone's eye, well, I know for a fact I've bought less than perfect just because I liked their energy.
thought for the day: Before it incarnates, each soul agrees to perform certain tasks upon the Earth. It enters into a sacred agreement with the Universe to accomplish specific goals. it eneters into this commitment in the fullness of its being. That is why when a soul succeeds in accomplishing its goal, in fulfilling what it has agreed to do, there is a richness and a specialness to the lifetime of that personality that is recognized and honored by its fellow souls, both physical and nonphysical…all of the experiences of your life serve to awaken within you the memory of that contract, and to prepare you to fulfill it. I like the heron – I like the way you captured the beautiful way they fold themselves up (their neck). And I'm looking forward to seeing those beads… I've been interested in the glass processes you've been learning. Sounds like fascinating, dangerous play.
Tam,
The fun of the process is in playing and touching the mystery. Love your touch mystery image, art on!
Lovely layers. colors, textures. So intricately delightful. 🙂
I had a vague memory of the original beginning of the canvas, so I clicked back to have a look at it after I had enjoyed looking at the finished product. What an evolution this canvas has gone through. I think it is very interesting how your focus and subject changed so radically from a sort of cultural exploration to a celebration of nature. I know that when people look at stuff I do they start trying to figure out my "message" even though usually I was trying to tie shapes together in a harmonic balance, so bear with me when I make the following statement. I feel like there is a very strong message in here about the relationship of man to nature. I see the mask and I think how animals never wear them. If my dog is sad, there is no pretence that she is happy. When the hawk flies through the yard, there are no strutting gold finches blustering about how brave they are, every bird scatters in terror. I think about how the masks we put on hide us from the world but also prevent us from fully experiencing it in all its beauty.
Anyway, I really have enjoyed looking at this painting, and I thank you for all the little detail pictures since I am not in the same room with it. I might have missed some of those nuances, which make the whole thing so poignant and rich in meaning.
what great layers you've got going on!!! I love the bird.
wow, I changed my blogroll to come up with the posts WHEN they are posted and up you popped 4 minutes ago! pretty cool….anyway, so is this canvas VERY cool…I love it and all the things you have going on in it! I love birds so loved seeing those and the colors look good enough to eat…I really like the idea of the 36" square canvas and am thinking about doing something like this on that size if I can find it around here…this turned out wonderfully and that yellow circle of paint is also inspired….I will have to look back on your post about how you got all that stuff to stay ON the canvas and not the floor, I am thinking it is some sort of medium but don't remember…
also love this thought for the day! thank you for sharing it. 🙂
blessings to you for a lovely rest of the weekend…
