Yesterday you saw the beginning of Beautiful Swimmers.  Here is the rest of her.  The head isn’t attached, I just positioned it to make sure the pieces would fit should I decide finally to go with her this way.  The big challenge is that her body standing up is about 2″ bigger than my kiln (and 7″ bigger than prone on a shelf).  So I’m going to have to let her dry really well and carefully place her at an angle and hope that all works well (what else is new!).  Just as well I didn’t want to glaze her.  That would present even more challenges to keep her from glueing herself to a side wall with the glaze.  then, if she comes through firing, I’ll probably need to reinforce the neck area some how, even after I glue the pieces together.  Maybe a board glued on the back of the neck.  I’ll have to think about that.  In other words, just because I’ve gotten this far doesn’t mean I’ll make it to the finish line with what I have in mind.  If there’s something else that wants to emerge, I’m sure it will make itself known one way or the other!

Day 22 of Art Every Day Month!  Wow – what a ride!  (as always, the stretch is wonderful!)

Wylde Women’s Wisdom

This is a mysteriously connected universe.  We don’t always consciously know how far our energy might reach and how intense its effect might be, but by doing what you intuitively feel you should be doing in this world (be it a career, a project, an art piece, a relationship), you are actually, believe it or not, helping to infuse this planet and even the entire cosmos with deep souldful purpose as well as encouraging other beings to seek out and bravely live their own role.  Sera Beak

  • True. You never know how what goes into a kiln will come out of a kiln. I hope she survives well.

That’s a thought provoking quote. Hopeful and positive. Love it! 🙂

  • Any ceramics is a challenge to me so I am watching in awe that you are even attempting this… can’t wait to see the finished product… it is going to be stunning xx

  • It is so amusing, how you explain your dilemmas. I do hope she does not get stuck in the kiln.
She is magnificent, by the way!
    xx

  • My fingers are crossed that she makes it through the kiln!
