One size doesn’t fit all and one program may not fill all your needs. But you can definitely weave together some pretty strong magic if you find the just right blend of offerings that opens you up to awe and inspiration.
The following is an overview of programs I am currently using bits and pieces and entireties of to support my suddenly blossoming energy level. I completely believe that when you fill yourself up BEing you have more time and feel more energized than when you deplete yourself by busy DOing DOing DOing.
We hae been molded in our culture to believe that if we just work harder all good things will come. I have come to totally disagree with that.
At the beginning of this year, I would not have believed this, but my experience has taught me otherwise.
For almost all of my adult years I have done the DOing thing – and found myself chasing my tail. You know the old saying: Insanity is DOing the same thing and expecting something different?
I finally got it! And decided to behave differently. Instead of rushing around and piling more and more work on my plate I stepped back (fearful that this would in the end just put me farther behind everything but willing to take on a different method and hope for a different outcome, fear and trembling be damned!)
I created spaces for a lot of reflection, community and journaling. I made vision boards and dream journals and listened to music. And I found myself filling up and spilling over and things moving like they haven’t before. More interestingly, I found my income increasing. Not by leaps and bounds but by enough dribs and drabs to perk up my bank account. Something I plotted and toiled over before without the same success. No, I can’t explain it, or the high that I seem to be permanently on right now even though in years gone by the winter months have been SADD months for me. Not this year!
I’ve created a new Master-Mind Check-in Program. It is a Master Mind in that there is more than just you (as in you and me) and a check-in because it happens weekly. And if you need an email or two in between phone calls, that’s fine too! Twenty minutes every week of laser focus on your life and business. This is a great way to see what pond you’re swimming in (a guest post over at Sacred Circle Creative Life – a true Wylde Woman space!), and how to enlarge the pond or even learn how to fly! This is modeled on a 3 person Master Mind which I have been working with for several months. I find the check-ins invaluable!
I have a daily practice, Kathryn Yarborough’s Flowing with Change: Collaborative Manifestation group. Monday through Friday I come to this group from 8am to 9am to share and meditate (via phone). I cannot leave this group in a down mood. The energy is spectacular and I can’t speak highly enough of what this group has done for me in the few short months I have been participating. This is focus. This is intention. This is masterful community and collaboration and I highly recommend it!
Goddess Leonie’s personal and work calendars for 2013 are out. Wish I had seen these before I bought one, but hey it won’t hurt to use them as tools. I became a member of her Tribe last year, and while I don’t agree with some of her newer directions, I have to admit she does offer some material that’s good for keeping one moving forward like her Business Goddess e-course and her Creative Goddess e-course. These resources are good for refocusing and keeping track – another form of self-check in. No judgement, just information collecting to mine in your quiet reflective times.
Another favorite on-line person is Molly Gordon. I have interviewed Molly for this Blog about her book (The Just Right Price, and Keeping it Real) back in 2009 – and was following her even before then. She’s offering a free program, Everything you always wanted to know about hot to make a profit but were afraid to ask (how’s that for a title!): 5 videos and a webinar starting Nov 26 and I think they’re recorded for later and you can access that as long as you register. She’s great for entrepreneural business owners.
For my creative side, there’s Leah Piken Kolidas’ Creative Every Day site. While I don’t do the year long version, I have done (and am doing) the Art Every Day Month in November as a way to keep myself open to new creative energy, to make sure I broadly define “creativity” broadly for myself and others, and to find awesome folks to stay in touch with over the year – whether on Facebook (most avid bloggers are on Facebook too) or through subscription to their blogs.
If you’re setting up a WordPress site, use BlueHost for your hosting folks (just click the BlueHost button in the right hand column). They are great handholders which is good because I’m definitely not a techie whiz. And because I’m not a techie whiz, I have a WordPress webmaster who walks on water in helping you set up and take care of your website: from her doing it all, to her on-line course that teaches you everything you know to do it yourself: Kathleen@theSavvyVA.com.
Additionally, I am opening up one day for taking one-on-one coaching clients in 2013. If you like the Master Mind Check in, you’ll love this!
Finally, check out this video (and oh, do leave a comment if you are so inclined!) of me explaining about living a Hell YES!! life – I made it for a contest that might win me some free marketing help in 2013. I love the comments it’s gotten so far!
How is your 2013 shaping up? Is it everything you want? You are the one who has the power to make it the best year ever!
Some of the above links are affiliates, just so you know. But I do not recommend anything I don’t believe in! These recommendations are here because they have filled me up and helped me find my Hell YES! life!

Thanks, Tammy for all of these resources. I’ve opened up each in a new window can can’t wait to pour over them! This year I recognized the DOing vs. BEing. A good friend of mine mentioned, “You’re a human BEing, not a human DOer.” This was an Aha! for me and I love the ideas for creating more time and space for reflection. Thanks so much!!
Alison
p.s. so glad to have met you through AEDM, Tammy!
How nice to get a peak into your process, Tammy. I so agree with you that we all have to find what works for us, and stepping back from all the “doing” is such a relief. I’m a fan of Molly Gordon too. A few years ago I got her “Goldilocks” program. It was on sale and I think I paid something ridiculous like $56 for it! Her ideas for interviewing ideal clients and using their actual words in web copy and sales pages have been tremendously helpful. My biz has definitely grown as a result and I no longer feel stymied when I sit down to write a marketing piece. The other day I even got a call from a coach who was just starting out and wondered how I created the language for my sites. I referred him to Molly. And when you think about this strategy it makes perfect sense: as helping professionals we mirror back what our clients are thinking, feeling, wanting, which brings them insight. Why not do that on our websites too? I like it so much more than the slick, hip stuff that’s out there.
Oooooooh! I love the new look! Very slick!
Some great recommendations in there too 🙂 I like the 2013 workbooks (and also I think her new direction is, well, odd). I’m reading Seth Godin’s Tribes at the moment, his stuff always wakes my brain up.
Love to you x
JM and Rita – you two are such awesome support and inspiration – thank you for stopping by!
I am so friggin’ happy for you, woman!! If things don’t feel good and positive and uplifting–change them so they do. Yes! Yes! Life is too short. Positives beget more positives! *love and hugs*
These are wonderful links to explore. Completely agree that working harder is not the answer!
See that everyone – Molly Gordon just stopped by – because she’s like that – you’ll love working with her!
Molly – Luck! Thanks for stopping by!
Sherri – thanks for stopping by – yes, I think I’ve finally got the doing doing doing hamster
thing figured out. And I give a lot of credit to the folks I list here for helping me get to
that.
Sisters, dancing – an old old (one of my first) quote pictures – seemed to fit the
blog idea perfectly!
Hi Tammy!
Thanks so much for mentioning Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Making a Profit but Were Afraid to Ask. So far the reviews are terrific.
I just finished shooting the second video, and am about to shoot the third. Wish me luck!
Molly
…and love the sisters dancing!!
Totally agree with the ‘Working harder does not get you there’ principle—just turns you into a hamster on a wheel
