Do you think I will make it?

Amazingly I am suddenly out of the rut I was in and finding new topics for my poems – nothing too heavy – how can one be heavy this close to a long term goal?  I am giddy!

Here is Poem 97.  97 down, 3 to go.  Who ever thought?!

The Avocado

In the refrigerator the avocado sits
alone, friendless, calling my name softly
like a lover might, telling me nothing but good
things about our possible association.  What
can I say?  The chocolate covered almonds almost
dance out of the carton into my hand, promise
crunch and sweet, melt on my tongue, tell me of haste
and satisfaction and all I need do is say “yes” – to whom
I am not sure.  The avocado, it’s deep green alligatored
hide protecting its soft interior, requires that I cut
it open, separate it out and mash, salt and pepper,
toss leftovers in the trash – it takes too much to get to
taste, 8 pieces of covered nuts gone in the moments I
contemplate one verses the other. It never had a chance.

  • I love it!

And this – “…is say “yes” – to whom
I am not sure.” And, of course, there it is, the question.

The answer would be (in my world) to you, yourself, so you can continue to gift everyone with your real self.

I applaud your dedication to this 100-day goal. Impressive. And the work is good….very, very good…..all of it, inspiring.
