Jewelry_sculptor_pin Jewelry:  Sculptor lapel pin, ceramic with beads and copper wire by Tammy Vitale

Here’s the sculptor" pin I lost the other day.  I put it face down in the studio and only ran across it because slowly but surely I am cleaning up and opening out the studio floor space.  And there it was.

I have moved work tables around and have access to my plaster bat again – where you work clay that is too wet.  Mostly used for throwing but I’ve lent my wheel to a local non-profit art center to use, so I really haven’t much needed it.  But it’s nice to be able to get to it again.

I made two torsos today, worked on goddess lore for Sacred, and got the Sacred sit set up so that the page comes up as the home page now – which, if you read yesterday’s post, I hadn’t figured out by then.  Bless Typepad for their helpful staff!

Ei over at "You May Say I’m a Dreamer…" tagged me for 7 random things.  I’ve done this many times here, but I so loved the random things she listed that I thought I would try listing 7 things in the same spirit.

1.  Up until my Mom died when I was 29, every year I got vanilla baby pudding in my Christmas stocking because I loved it so.  Dad kept the tradition up until I was in my 30s.

2.  I have a small pond in my backyard (human made) that has 15 goldfish and many frogs – who are still not in hibernation this year (!) – that gives me a great deal of pleasure all year long.

3.  I just shared a cookie recipe with my daughter that I got from a long deceased aunt – and I love the way it felt to pass along.

4.  I have a huge Christmas cactus that last year bloomed from October through April (not one bloom this year) that has grown from a tiny sprig my Mom started when I was 8 years old.

5.  I have posted over 400 blogs since April of 2006 when I started blogging for real (I don’t count MySpace – that was a trial run, although I posted both places for a very long time).

6.  I believe in magic and pixies and dragons and things that go bump in the night.  I spend a lot of time making supplications to kiln imps.

7.  My favorite color is yellow, my favorite flower is the daffodil and my favorite car that I ever owned was a 1966 hard/soft top corvette that I wish I still had.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

thought for the day:    You do not have to be good/You do not have to walk on your knees/for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting./You only have to let the soft animal of your body/love what it loves./…Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain/are moving across the landscapes…/Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,/the world offers itself to your imagination,/calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting-/over and over announcing your place in the family of things.  Mary Oliver

  • How beautiful that lapel pin is. The ones I design are mainly commercial, not artistic.

How do you do it? Keep up with so many things.
I wish I could have that determination and discipline.
You might have just inspired me.

  • Cool list! I want the cookie recipe! I owe a huge debt of gratitude to you. It was through your blog that I found many wonderful artists/writers/friends in the blogging world. Also, you inspire me in a BIG WAY! And how wonderful to have connected with you live and in-person!

I'm thankful that you started and maintain your blog — you're an inspiration and I feel like I'm right there along with your journey as you 'go for the gusto' this coming year. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Love the pin, and your 7 random things. What sweet memories – sometimes it's those little things that mean the most. I treasure the recipes my mom and grandma passed down to me. I wonder how many generations the recipes will carry on, for…they are the true family gems, I think.
I hope the kiln imps are kind to you.
Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving, Tammy~xOxO
