Plaque Paradise  Paradise, hand sculpted one of a kind wall plaque, 8"t x 5.5"w, by Tammy Vitale $200.

sometimes, when life seems to pull me in 12 different directions, and the rhythm I am used to is disrupted by, say, working outside the house for the first time in decades, I forget that there are fairly easy ways back to even keel.

Husband's and my hours are not meshing very well on the days I am working at the stand.  He works late – usually our time of the day to catch up with each other is breakfast.  Well, I'm gone by the time he gets up and he's gone by the time I get home, so there are 3 or so days there we literally don't see each other during waking hours.  Not having that time together points up to me how much I rely on it.

And this is why I love him.  He sent me an email (yes – that's how we communicate when we don't see each other.  I never know when he's in the middle of a sound check or stage change over so calling isn't an option) and said: let's pack a picnic and take the Girls and go somewhere on Sunday.

He's so smart!  That's why I married him.

So that's what we did.

Originally the idea was to take off to western Virigina – go south first then west (miss Fredericksburg traffic which is not conducive to relaxing).  But instead we went south and then east and wound up in Westmoreland State Park (Virginia) – a lovely space:  picnic area, beach, water and lots of trees.  hardly any people this time of year.  Perfect!  If we could only have rented a cabin on the spot (alas, one must call ahead and make arrangements through their switchboard) we would have stayed the night.  But that's okay.  It was just what the doctor ordered!

thought for the day:  I've known rivers/I've known rivers ancient as the world and older thant the flow of human blood in human veings.'My sould has grown deeplike the rivers./…I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln/went down to New Orelans, and I've seen its muddy'bosom turn all golden in the sunset./I've known rivers:/Ancient dusky rivers./My sould has grown deep like the rivers.  Langston Hughes
