2D VJ Retreat

When was the last time you gave yourself the gift of time to breathe?

A space to hear the answers, discover the magic and expore the possibilities
in all facets of your life.

Here’s a great chat on blogtalk radio where Kathryn Yarborough of Flowing with Change interviews me about the whys and whats of retreats and taking time to take time!

Why Go On Retreat:

Activities are scheduled to enhance your retreat, and to give you tools and memories to take home with you..  Your participation is up to you.  This is your retreat and you should plan to do what feels best for you!

The following activities are examples only.  Actual retreat activities may vary based on new energy and ideas that I receive when I am preparing for the actual retreat.  I rely heavily on intuition when planning for any particular retreat.

Friday  7pm, Circle of Release:  A gathering using the power of safe community to write a note to or about those things/events/challenges/outlived ways of being we wish to let go, speak it (or think it) into the circle, and then release the note into our campfire.  Everyone is asked to bring food to share for a late evening potluck around 8pm.

Saturday

Breakfast:  continental (pastries, fresh fruit, cereal)

10 am, Mandala as Muse:  We will make a collaged Mandala from magazines, tissue paper, and bits and scraps of ephemera.  Materials are provided and you may also bring along anything that you’d like to add to your own Mandala and/or share with others.  Please bring a photo or photos of yourself for the center of your Mandala.

12:30 pm Lunch:  Cold cuts and tuna salad for sandwichs, and a side of potato salad.

1:30 – 5pm:  Gather found materials along the beach and in the forest, and return to used supplied mixed media to make a 12 x 12  mixed media Muse mosaic tile.

5 – 6pm:  Those who would like to underline their intentions and speak them out loud to bring them into the world can share more about their Mandala and about the Muse they made to support it.

7pm:  Dinner in Montross  (Dinner and non-alcoholic drinks included in Retreat price)

Sunday

Breakfast:  continental (pastries, fresh fruit, cereal)

10 a.m. Clear out of all cabins except the extended stay Cabin (more info when you sign up).

11:00 – Circle of Intention:   A gathering using the power of safe community to write a note to or about those things/events/challenges/new ways of being we wish to welcome into our lives, and speak it (or think it) into the circle.  At the end of the circle, a space and materials will be provided to decorate your note as a Vision Board to go along side your Mandala.

Snacks:  fruit and power bars, orange juice, milk, sugar, herbal teas, regular coffee and coffee filters will be provided for each cabin.

Beverages: You are welcome to bring beverages of your choice to share and or supplement the juice, milk and coffee provided.

Retreats are scheduled twice a year:  once in the Fall to look back over the year in preparation for the coming year and before the holiday crazies take place; and, once in the Spring, to take a breather and see how intentions are progressing, make necessary adjustments and continue onward.

Retreats are kept small, topping out around 9 or 10 people, to allow for relationship and community building.  Coming:  a Facebook private page for Retreat community to keep in touch.

Here are pictures from the November 2012 retreat at Westmoreland Park in Virginia.

I am so glad I came! This has been an eye-opening and life-changing experience.  The things I learned about myself will change my life forever.  I was in a really dark place and now I can see the possibility of light and energy as long as I word toward consistently choosing it.                            Pat Remington

The Retreat-Refresh-Renew weekend was jampacked with nourishing and refreshing hospitality, guided in-person meditations to help process and renew, all sandwiched around soul-centered creative activities.  The cabin felt like home, in one of the most beautiful, user-friendly parks I’ve stayed in, complete with gorgeous sunrise over the Potomac River.  I came back ready to step even more into my spotlight of choice!  Thank you Tammy Vitale!  Ellen Koronet
I came on this retreat because I needed time in a neutral setting to contemplate events I’m facing.   After the retreat I felt at peace with the decisions I made.  I learned to listen to others all facing different challenges.  I would recommend Tammy’s retreats because of the energy she brings as a group leader and her talents and sensitivity to the need of others.        Susan Helldorfer

The dogwood outside my office window

Well, you missed it.  If you’re reading this then you aren’t joining the women who are gathering at Westmoreland State Park to retreat, renew and return.

Since all day today was taken with preparations for the retreat, my offering for Art Every Day Month is the art of planning and hosting a retreat.

We are having yummy food like Lime Shrimp and Spaghetti medley.  Continental breakfasts include fresh pastry, bagels with cream cheese or almond butter, hard-boiled eggs, cereal and coffee and tea.  Snacks include mixed nuts and fruit, popcorn, deviled eggs (which I had to beat husband away from) and S’mores in front of an open wood hearth fire.

We will make Forever Flowers on Friday.  Saturday brings Vision journals/cards and making Taliswomen.  And just in case the women get so involved in the be-ing they can’t remember exactly what they’re doing, they will take home how-tos  for everything they do.

Don’t you know we are having great weather?  Cool and crisp like Autumn should be!  We will have colorful leaves on the forest floor to traipse through and sand along the Potomac River to traverse when gathering our Taliswoman materials.  Can’t you just smell the fresh air?!  Maybe we’ll see the eagles that nest in the park, a blue bird or two, blue herons and geese.  Most definitely we will see deer which seem to be everywhere.

Can there be anything better than no tv, no phone, no computer alongside the great outdoors, with a toasty cabin to return to with great company and fun projects?

I’m sorry you missed this one – Mark your calendar.  I’ll be offering another retreat in the Spring (late March or early April) and I’d love to have you join us!
