Glass_1_fused Here is the fused glass waiting to be slumped on Monday over my torso.  Goal 1 for 2008:  make a glass torso by the end of February.  =]

I’m please as punch with this fused piece which is about 22 inches high and 14 or 15" wide.  Instead of focusing on what some glass artists will consider flaws (like the evenly distributed bubbles that look like they were planned!), I’m going to focus on the fact that my first fused piece is big enough for a torso and playing with coloring is fun!

Husband and I have a play date today, so I will show you the piles of pieces, mostly for the Sacred line, but some older ones and the one on the far left of the first picture in the top row for Body Politics, gatheirng around the house, and the pile of admin and booth decoration that is forming in my office, all waiting for the Philadelphia Buyer’s Market show and tell you how pleased I am with how everything everything is moving along.

The middle mask is a refire/reglaze/stain of this one:Mask_avalon_tt_full I like the new one more.  Better pictures are in the works, but I’m wiring right now and finishing – some pieces are ready to be wired.  And I need more wire – I ran out.  And I have to figure out how to do gold leaf (thanks Dhyana!) on the cup on the bronze piece with the blue "skirt" piece.

thought for the day:  A good artist, it is often said, is fifty to a hundred years ahead of their time, they describe what lies over the horizon in our future world..The artists, of whatever epoch, must also depict this new world before all of the evidence is in.  They must rely on the embracing abilities of their imagination to intuit and desribe what is yet a germinating seed in their present time, something that will only flower after they have written the line or painted the canvas.  David Whyte Crossing the Unknown Sea:  Work as a Pilgrimage of Identity

  • To quote the film "Trading Places" … "Looking good Billy Ray!" (as they toast each other with champagne and cocktails on a Carribean beach ) or in this case "Looking Good Tammy!" The glass is great, and good to see so much work collecting.

Hope you have a great day together. (We had our "date" last Friday 🙂 )

    xx

You know, I'd love to walk through your workspace and absorb your energy — then come home and let it flow out of my fingers. I've been totally consumed with preparations for a group art show (where I am the instigator – a less formal name for 'curator'). I'm inundated in paperwork and have to answer question e-mails every day and I'm just so longing to have this up and running (this coming Friday night) so that I can come back to my studio and create. Have a great day with 'husband'!
