2D sketch The Gift  AEM 16 – sketch to share, The Gift, which you can dowload – I made it 8 x 10 but it broke up, so I made it 7 x 5 for your coloring enjoyment.  Remember to link here and leave a comment if you decide to use it so I can see what you've done with it.

I was doing so well keeping up with a daily post.  Alas, life sometimes shifts into high gear, or in my case I was coming down to the end of about 2 weeks of non-stop activity and had only so much energy left.  Thursday evening was final load up of car for my 4 hour show on Friday at an artist friend's work place.  Friday was travel into DC in the dark being thankful all the way in and back that I don't have to make that daily commute to make a living (yet – if it ever happens I'm getting a small apt and renting the house – that commute is a killer.  Unless of course I get a gig like another friend who works the noon to nine shift and misses all the traffic – gets free parking too!)  Anyhow, got lots of admiration at the show and handed out postcards for Heron's Way (always nice to have a regular shop to refer to at a show).  Closer to home I also direct folks to Leonardtown Galleria.

So, anyways, here are the catchup pictures for AEM 13, 14, and 15.

2D 3 sisters  2D Leah Dancing

2D gazing out the window  2D sketchbook 2 pages  Titles in order:

3 Sisters, Leah Dancing (and yes she is named for our Art Every Day Month host, Leah at Creative Every Day, who continues to create paintings I would buy everyone of if I had $ and space), Gazing Out and then my sketchbook pages – the only place I have facing pages finished.  What happend was that 3 sisters  was just 1 until AEM this year when I finished the sketch.  Pele's Sister, on the right, was finished in 07.  I now have wax paper between them.  3 Sisters and Leah Dancing are linked to their sketch pages should you desire to do your own coloring (don't forget to link back so I can see!) and I do believe one of those pages has links to last year's sketches for you to color in.  enjoy!

thought for the day:  It is never too late to start over.  It is never past the point of no return for our artist to recover.  We can heap years, decades, a lifetime of insult upon our artist and it is so resilient, so powerful, and so stubborn that it will come back to life when we give it the smallest opportunity.  Instead of being coaxed into one more overextension of our energies in the name of hleping others, we can help ourselves by coaxing our artists out with the promise of some protected time [and a box of crayons…].  Julia Cameron, Walking in This World:  The Practical Art of Creativity

  • oh, I love "Leah Dancing"!!! I loved it even before I saw it was named for me and then I just loved it more!! oh, i want it!

p.s. i nominated you for an award!

  • Tammy – These are beautiful. Some of them remind me of Gauguin; the themes, colors, and compositions – especially 3 Sisters and Pele's Sister. I also like the gathered up skirt and dancing feeling of Leah Dancing.

  • Beautiful, bright, brilliant colours! Just love them! Your work: "Leah dancing" is very special!

  • Loving these colors!

  • Tammy, when I saw your name today over at leah's, I had to run over right away and see what you are up to. 🙂 Your coloring and drawings are amazing and thank you for sharing your coloring techniques. I am using up my crayons having all kinds of happy fun drawing shapes and curves with rich colors…have you tried the paper towel rubbing trick over the drawing? It makes this wonderful blending of the waxes and color as well as makes it look "finished"….I love it!

Your drawings are amazing and I am thinking of doing her if I can figure out how to download the image (?) …. going to give it a try and will link it back so you can see her.

    Blessings…
