NaPoWriMo2018 – day 30. Last day! Mission Accomplished.

Made it – goes to show you just never know what you can do if you don’t try.  Daily posts (save 1 day but I made up for that by posting multiple poems on others days, so technically I’m ahead). I have played with a lot of forms, lucky to join classes that helped me along the way.  I have enjoyed my traveling companions and the accomplishment of posting every day in addition to writing a poem or more every day.  I thought that would never be possible again after I quit, badly, in the 1990s.  Bu time heals and apparently healed me and I had room to try again and I’m so glad I did!

But I don’t intend to end it here.  I intend to keep going – blogging if not poetrying every day.  I’ll take a breath.  Look around and see what want to come next.

Meanwhile, today’s poem is from an exercise of describing someone or something using only a list.

She Is…..

Chocolate cake in a cup after a stressful day, with ice cream
a playful grin
a dance in hard spring rain
thunder and lightning
star glitter on the surface of the ocean
a song in a minor key – acoustic
2 quarters and a $10 bill in a jean’s pocket
a turquoise scarf, looped
a patchwork jacket, lined with plain green – reversible
a receipt to Cirque du Soliel
a baby redwood tree tied in by her toes to all her sisters
a long trip in first class
a river cairn – precariously stacked
a painter of cave walls by torchlight
a simmering volcano
a phone without twitter
12 responses to your FB page
a 1956 Chevy with a 1961 Corvette engine
a safe space to try on different faces
a labyrinth but not a maze
a red thread leading home
soft shoes and thick socks
A Woman who runs with the Wolves
a hugger of trees
a toes in the ocean castle in the sand
a smell of lilacs and seabrine
jasmine riding a hot summer night
smoke from wet leaves and fire under a harvest moon
black ink on white paper with blue lines and no margins
an overflow of words
10 strikes in a row – a perfect game
the smartest book on the shelf
a dragon queen who knows where there are treasures
a warm quilt made from memories
a place to rest after a hard journey.
