Continuing on my theme from yesterday of Fear.

Yellow Fear appears
as sickness – it is fever and cough,
the strike of an eagle with gold feathers,
the greed of a person with too much stuff
in unneeded stockpiles who still wants more, a
smell of sulphur and the texture of rising bubbles
in a once clear lake.

It is the story of a loved but rabid yellow dog.

***

Red Fear tastes like jalapenos and anger. It is walls put up and fences torn down. Its name is “mine.”

***

Green Fear sprouts like new leaves in spring: overnight. It grows like new lettuce from an old core once thought dead, grinning with filmed teeth and putrid breath. Green Fear blocks what should come next, preferring what is know which equates to what is safe. Green Fear says with conviction that comfort at is good at any cost.

  • thank you! I’m thinking about colors of other emotions….I have to admit it is a great exercise and a focus that makes meeting daily writing much easier.

  • Oh I love this…..I love this idea of emotions and colors – and this: the strike of an eagle with gold feathers,

That yellow/gold just pops right out at me. Keep going with these. Please.
