Studio_kiln_filled_to_the_top A very full kiln load.  Done.  Everything made it through (except the tail on one fish).

Some days words aren’t needed.  Pictures do just fine.  Lately, pictures are doing just fine more and more often.  I find that posting pictures of my work here is pleasing to me.  Like this very full kiln of cooled work that was ready to unload this morning.  Lots more work to do – much of what was cooked now needs to be stained.  All of it needs drings and wiring.  But I’ve found my rhythm, and doing work in batches makes it go faster since when I sit down to do a leg of it, I do the same step over and over.

Glazing?  Even two toned fish go faster when you have dozens to choose from (only some lend themselves to two toned) and can lay them out and do each color at once instead of one fish at a time.  Grouping by color makes it go faster – same application to each fish.

Glueing drings?  Only have to pick dried glue off my fingers once when I can glue 50 pieces at a time (more once husband gets his drums up in his office and I can bring in work tables.  And classes.  I’ll have room for classes too!)(And the garage where I roll things out will then have more room).

Wiring?  Pile everything up and sit and wire while listening to music or something on tv for noise.  Or quiet.  Often quiet is very good.

The title of this post is to remind myself how happy I am right here in my own back yard.  And the sunrise this morning, after several gloomy days, with everything wet and green from so much rain (very much needed after August) was the manifestation of the feeling. The photos are what I was seeing outside the window over my desk – I had to run out and take them.

thought for the day:  remember to stop and enjoy your own back yard:
