Mask Cleo 10 x 9 x 4 Cleo, hand and slab built, ceramic/clay wall sculpture, 10t x 9″w x 4″d, one of a kind, with clay “magic” rune, red glass balls, feathers and raku clay shards by Tammy Vitale $200

Cleo is another redone mask.  Her original title was  Desert but I didn’t put that on her back, and Egypt is in the desert and Cleopatra was from Egypt, so you follow the process, right?  It’s very odd when a piece doesn’t get some sort of name and she’s been around since ’06 according to my signature.  Here’s her original incarnation.  I took off a part of her “head dress” and broke that up for later use in a totem, spray painted her in gold (she’s got a lot more gold to her than is showing up – am not sure why it didn’t photograph), added some acrylic metallics and shards from Haiku II, a raku piece that’s been hanging around (literally) since ’05.

News of the day is that I have been given the Arte y Pico award by HealingMagicHands of The Havens blog.  Arte y pico award The Havens

The rules are the usual:

1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contrubutes to the blogger community, no matter of language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award-winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award.
4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y pico” blog , so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5) To show these rules.

I haven’t been doing much browsing lately, but I’m please to direct you to my regular blogs because they have all stood the test of time (in no particular order of favoritism) :

Leah at Creative Every Day

Ascender at Ascender Rises Above

Tinker at Tinker Art

Andrea at C’est Andrea

Jana at Jana’s Journeys

Then there are my favorite, more commercial blogs:  Christine Kane, Alyson Stanfield, and Tama Kieves who doesn’t blog but does have a newsletter that’s worth taking the time to sign up for.

I’m thinking about creating awards – think of the links it could earn you (which is the whole point of starting one I guess – nice marketing).

Don’t forget to share your own remakes here in the comments, and I’ll give you a shout out in a following blog.

A a grateful “thank-you” to Typepad which seems to have gotten many of the kinks finally worked out.  That’s the good news.  The bad news:  why couldn’t they do this before they made us all crazy?!

thought for the day:  As we understand the impersonal nature of the Law of Cause and Effect, we can CHOOSE to take more responsibililty for what we have created in out lives.  The more responsibility we take, the less likely we are to think that forces outside ourselves are limiting or controlling our lives.  Ultimately, life is about choices.  There is no destiny, only our unlimited abilitly to choose.  Katerine Q. • You gave me an award!!!!! *feeling loved*

I really like Cleo's new look… the gold tone really suits her.

*thinking of who I'll give the award to*

  • Tammy …How are you?
I came by way of Tinker…
Hope all is going well for you and yours.
I Remember well the wonderful words you gave me
    a while back.
My son is now in rehab.
    🙂

  • Thank you so much, Tammy! And, yes, I think you should create an award. How about the "Women Who Weave a Wonderful Life" award????

  • It's incredible to follow the mask's evolution, I love the way she looks now, mature! Before she had a more andogynous face, now she is all woman! So beautiful, also the way you arranged her hair/headdress.

Thanks so much Tammy for the Award! And I love the way you put this: they have stood the test of time:)
have a great day, my faithful blogfriend:)

    love
    Andrea

  • oh my! It is going to take me a few days to pull together an acceptance speech! Thanks so much!

  • Thanks so much, Tammy darling!! You are definitely deserving of this award as you are a constant source of inspiration to me! xoxo

  • oh, I hate when I don't put my words in order – I meant the 'to whom' to pass the award, on to – not the passing of the award, itself…
sheesh! I'm not using my 'big girl words' very well today, hehe…

  • Oh! Thank you, my friend!
I will have to give the passing on of this, some consideration…
thank you for thinking of me.

Btw, 'Cleo' is looking quite regally grand!
