She is originally from Zambia, where I watched a man carve and finish her in Lusaka. Now she lives in the center of my front window.

The lovely thing about participating with Art Every Day Month (day 7 here!)  is that Leah defines creativity so broadly.  This morning I decided to take photographs of ordinary things around my home and add meditations.  The ordinary things thus become attached to prayers of a sort in my psyche, and I remember to breathe each time I see them!

Let trees grow up by the billions around the world.  Let green life invade the deserts.

Let industry serve humanity and produce waste that serves nature.

Let technology respect the holiness of Mother Earth.

Let those who control the mass media contribut to create mutual understanding, contribute to create optimism and confidence.

Let orginary people meet by the millions across the borders.  Let them create a universal network of love and friendship.

Let billions of human beings co-operate to create a good future for their children and grandchildren.

Let us survive in peach and harmony with Mother Eart.  Hagen Hasselbalch

I arise, facing East, I am asking toward the light;

I am asking that my day shall be beautiful with light.

I am asking that the place where my feet are shall be light, that as far as I can see I shall follow it aright.

I am asking for the courage to go forward throught the shadow, I am asking toward the light!  Mary Austin

Wylde Women’s Wisdom

To live content with small means, to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich, to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart…..William Ellery Channing
