Mask_rise_of_the_harvet_moon_2 Mask:  Rise of the Harvest Moon, raku, 10"t x 9"w x 3"d, by Tammy Vitale, $145

Tried out my new red raku glaze and it performed swimmingly.  The white crackle, not so much.  The Star Night overfired and highlighted with acrylic.  If you click twice, you can see the close up – cracks, but nothing really deep and impressive.  Nevertheless, I think the whole came out spectacularly and am very happy with the mood of it. And it’s back to the photography studio because I don’t think I’m happy with this photo.

Re the title.  Of course you know it’s still September.  What you don’t know is that September always seems such as transitional month for me (back to school ingrained; hence, new and dedicated time to learn about marketing and about myself, since my art is me and that’s what I’m marketing).

My rhythm is all off and Hotmail jamming me out of my email box for three days for no earthy reason completely jangled me.  So now I have two emails, something I have always avoided like the plague – one keeps me quite up to my ears.  And the new improved Hotmail (in case you can’t hear the sarcasm dripping, let me point out that is said with sarcasm dripping.  Heavily.) takes my comments (yes, I figured that out) but puts my response into something other than hotmail, which is still somehow tied to an old starnet or something which is defunct, and so in order to respond to my commenters, I have to go through 3 steps where one used to work.  And that holds for opening the contents, too.  The new Hotmail is terribly concerned that the comments are dangerous and I have to ok opening them and then ok showing all their content (as in linked email and websites).  So where two strokes once worked, now I have six.  Plus moving back and forth between the message and another window where I can actually send an email.  Ain’t progress wonderful?!  I’m sure there are ways to fix all this, but, non-techie that I am, it’s going to take time.

the part-time job winds up after about 10 hours of work on Tuesday.  Well, not quite, one of the project managers has money in a separate grant for my work so I’ll be doing some hours there.  And that frees up very close to 20 hours a week of my time.  And gets me away from the computer.  And this is all good for my art.  And since things work the way we want them too, it will also be good for my bank account.

The one thing that has worked is my "help wanted" ad.  I have two folks working on shops and one standing by for postcards once I catch up to where I was with planning them before everything went haywire.

I had a bunch of nice links for you to visit, too, but they went away with everything I followed while trying to retrieve my email.  So here are the ones I remember for your enjoyment. (Note:  I know have several blogs I read with "art" and "adventure" or some form of that and am getting them all totally confused.  This may be a good sign I did not base my blog name on "art").

Artful Adventures:  Spray painting with Your Garden (make lovely journal pages quickly and easily)

Artventuring:  What color crayon on you?  (I’m red.  It must be a good quiz because if they had said I was anything but red I would have said:  oh pooh!)

Casa de Charlotte della luna:  Women in Art:  Tammy Vitale (an interview with me!  If you love New Orleans, or just don’t know anything about New Orleans, this is the site to put in your favorites and visit often)

And in here somewhere I got tagged for a meme but can’t remember by whom (are you reading?  jog my memory?) because I’m old and because my brain has been on overdrive trying to use the left hemisphere instead of the right hemisphere where I am comfortable.

It’s all about stretching and being out of one’s comfortable zone.  Thank you, Universe, for reminding me, and hopeful all the helpful reminders are now done for a while.Photo_out_my_front_window_sept_16_0

thought for the day:  is a picture, because  pictures are worth a lot of words.  This is what I saw this morning out my front window.

  • Thanks for the link; I'm glad you enjoyed (and agreed with) the crayon color thing.
It was I who tagged you, with the 8 Random Things About Yourself meme..yet another diversion, but a sort of fun one.
Since my birthday's in September, and I loved school, I've always considered it a month of beginnings, too. I've always found it less harsh and demanding than the beginnings associated with January, and a harbinger of new, potentially great things for the remaining months of the year. Happy September, happy transitions, happy new beginnings!

  • Because of all those schoolyears, September always feels like a new year beginning to me.
My sympathies on the e-mail situation. I've had to adapt to extra steps for everything on the computer, thanks to the wonderful advantages of Vista – apparently 'new, improved' has become euphimistic marketing jargon for 'more complicated than ever.' Phhht! :@

  • Yesterday I met a lovely young woman who's first name is September. I guess for her, it's always September. I can't imagine why anyone would do that to their baby but I was not about to ask about the significance of the name although I am really curoius. Was that the month she was born? conceived?

Beautiful piece. I think the cracks enhance it.

  • loved the interview! and my crayon color was blue which was what i thought it would be. 🙂

i'm so glad you got those two pieces from the nahcotta show!! i've got someone interested in buying the rest of the series, so it's great that you grabbed em up before the show!

i totally know that off-rhythm feeling and that feeling of september as a time of change and newness. i hope we both find our rhythm again very soon!! eeks!
