Chair_cottage_by_the_sea_full Recycled furniture:  Chair, Cottage by the Sea, for use as plant stand, by Tammy Vitale.  $125

I have rejoined the living.  We had a lovely trip to North Carolina to house hunt, decided we liked the Edenton area the best, found a great real estate agent (the lovely Lori Snell), and looked at about 5 house, 2 of which I really like, one of which we both liked very much.  Back home to sell the cottage (it’s already up on Craig’s List, but I think we’re going to go ahead and list it and see what the market is like.  It’s on the water.  Hopefully that means something).  I would show you pictures but I left my camera at home.

We did not leave dogs at home, though; we brought them right along.  We rented an air-conditioned car, since neither of ours has air conditioning (fine for us, not so fine for short nosed pug dogs).  They are good little travelers!

So Tuesday night I have a meeting to head up at the part-time job and start getting stomach cramps on the way over.  By the time I’m on the way home, cramps are going pretty good, then I get in bed and chills start, and achy skin, and headache and backaches and on and on all through the night.  I haven’t taken Prilosec for weeks for the acid reflux and was feeling pretty smug about that.  Well, I took that and then I took Tylenol and then I suffered through the night and on into yesterday.  The good thing about working at home is that I can get up late, work, nap, work, nap, work and still get my hours in as well as sort of take care of myself.  This morning I believe I’m better.  I will call the doctor though because I have had deer tick bites this year and it’s been pointed out to me by a good friend and by Husband that my symptoms could indicate Lyme disease (ugh).  The ticks have been very bad this year.  None of the bits have done the bull’s eye thing but I read that isn’t necessary.

Meanwhile, I’ve put this chair here to celebrate finding 3 more little chairs to finish for plant holders.  Mostly I’ve quit doing furniture because it takes up space but these are little chairs – 3 fit in my trunk with room to spare.  And they were very very reasonable and so I bought every one of the 3 that were sitting on the front porch of the antique shop in Galesville when I went to pick up my piece from the River Gallery there.

Not a long post.  Just wanted to check in and say "hi" since I’m missing getting around to everyone’s blog and chatting.  It’s a summer thing.  It doesn’t mean I don’t love every one of you!

thought for the day:  What would it be like if we all strived for ecstasy?  What if we were required to study it in school?  What if everybody in the first grade was taught that we are DIVINE BEINGS, each of us holding a unique gift to give that can bring forward the experience of ecstasy when we SHARE the gift with others?  What is more important than this?  This sharing of ourselves, the loving others through our unique talents, THIS is our daily bread.  Katherine Q. • Something for you over at the foxhole 🙂

  • I love tiled art. This is so colorful!
Been to a NC beach once: GORGEOUS.
After reading recently that you were off house hunting I googled Edenton and read that it's the 6th most favored spot for retiring. (I don't know how recent or accurate the stats are, but the areas looks breathtaking, cozy, and artsy!)

Your lucky to be able to retire so very young! Best wishes for a quick sale and finding the place of your dreams. Feel better soon.

  • Glad you are feeling better – sending you *vibes* (for health and cottage selling).

  • Glad you're feeling better and EXTRA glad that you're going to go to the doctor.

I was just talking about the education of our children yesterday–love the quote (as usual).

  • Your thought of the day reminds me of a movie we showed to the kids one week… "Lord of the Beans", by Veggietales… each of us is given a "bean" (unique gift) that when used correctly, benefits the whole world!

It also has evil sporks, instead of orks… I was laughing so hard, the kids all turned to stare! hahaha

Love the idea of recycling chairs…

Ticks have been everywhere here too!!! *full-body shudder* That is so annoying.

  • wonderful little chair. I have my daughter's high chair that I have been thinking of redoing into a plantstand – it's a mess. I have no idea how I will redo it. I really like the little ceramic tiles, I thought they were painted on until I enlarged the photo. Having no access to a kiln – I need to swing by your place to fire some up. 😉
Moving to North Carolina? I had no idea.
sorry to hear you feel so poorly. Wondering if it were ticks, perhaps you picked it up when you were working on the water project? Hoping you are feeling better soon.

Welcome back. I'm sorry you were sick — but hope you're feeling better now. How exciting to be looking at a possible new home space and all the things you can do with it.
