First Fridays at Heron’s Way Gallery are always great food, great company and great art.

Newcomer Casey Brandt was showing a suite of his Crow Portraits, collage with Ink – they are wonderful!  I love crows and I love collage – even if I can’t do it as well as most – and so it was a great pleasure to meet him and see his work. (right).Shop_heronscasey_brandt_crow_portra

Two of the three Heron’s Way gals were at the party:  Mary Ida with her carved heron and Rose with her pyrographs (wood burning with little teeny tiny lines) (both below).  Sorry that I couldn’t get non-glare photos with the framed work.  I was just happy to have finally remembered to bring along my camera.  And when I saw what the sky was doing outside, I was double happy!

Shop_heronsmary_ida Shop_heronsrose Girlfriend, Dhyana met me for the show and listened to my tale of woe about how I wanted to get this application into the Buyer’s Market and all of a sudden my computer wouldn’t copy pictures to a disc.  Dhyana, being the generous and competent person she is, one who deals with tech stuff all day long as she runs her shop at Pax River Naval Base, came home with me and we downloaded driver software (that came with the computer), played with what was on it, got strange screens, got different screens with the same strokes, and couldn’t get rid of Turbo Tax 2006.  No copies.  Dhyana says:  No problem (like I said, she’s a sweetie).  Email them to me and I’ll take care of it.  And she left around 9:30 pm.  Then I decided to try once more and low and behold, they worked.  Can you believe that?  So I emailed Dhyana and this morning she brought back my whole package (she was going to make the CD and then mail).  That’s a 20 minute one-way trip.  Before 9:30.  I offered to come get it and she said she needed a ride.  Ladies and gentlemen you should be so lucky to have such a friend!

Here’s today’s Art for Everyday Month.  I was going to color it in.  And I will color it in.  But I decided to offer it like a colorbook page first so everyone else can color it in too if they’re so inclined.  Hey, it’s Saturday – take a break and make it easy on yourself!Nov_3_color_in_mandala

Thought for the day:  Whether we have sisters or not, we look for the archetype of the sister, the woman who knows us better than anyone, who shares everything with us, who loves us as a blood relation.  These are our girlfriends.  Carmen Renee Berry and Tamara Traeder, Girlfriends:  Invisible Bonds, Enduring Ties
