Art Every Day Month (every November) was started by Leah Piken Kolidas in the early 2000s. I joined in 2006 which is the only year I think I completed something every day.
Am back at committing to every day this year. As always I try to make my “art” something I don’t usually do (which leaves out clay and jewelry but I may just go ahead and add them in this year since I am creating a lot in both mediums right now – whole new batch of beads from this past Friday’s shopping spree with Daugher, and a new line of 21″ or so Wylde Women that I am making for me – to sell of course – but mostly for me because I like them and want to.)
In 2006 I started an altered book, never having done one and finding them fascinating. I still find them fascinating and still haven’t done a full one. So I picked that one up where I left off. It’s theme is “home” and here, in all its glistening wetness is my art for today’s AEDM. I just saw someone do a found poem, so I took that and used the concept here, blocking out the letters in the original text until I got where I wanted to go.
Mostly my aim is for creative intuition and not great art, a lot of playfulness, and the realization that art can be anything that makes my soul sing (which means the crayons will be out before long. Incidentally, my Wylde Women’s coloring book was originally created as a part of the AEDM posts I did 07. Those of your who have the coloring book, or who subscribe, will recognize the picture on this post and can browse the following posts for more of my own finishing of the pictures you have in hand.).
So for all of you my regular subscribers, I encourage you to follow along with my creative journey – support me in doing something every day. Try it yourself (as Leah points out, creative is defined broadly: sewing, cooking, photos, a song, a poem. Do you dance? post a video! Just let your imagination flow!)
When my post is ready, I run right over and put it on the AEDM page for the day. If you want a great group of blogs to visit, this is where to find them as all participants post their daily offering on this page (I will include it in each of my posts for your ease).
Brilliant marketing, by the way. Not only does Leah create a delightful space for hundreds of people to play in, she gets a ton of new and return views to her blog (which is so worth it – I have never met Leah in person, but 4 of her originals grace my walls. I absolutely love her paintings!)
Enjoy!
Wylde Women’s Wisdom
The universe is the supreme manifestation of the sacred. …This is not a linear sequence, because the component elements of the universe move in pulsations, in sequences of integration-disintegration, in spiral or circular patterns, and, especially on Earth, in seasonal expressions of life renewal…the only way to creativity is through the breakdown of existing unities. I love that you’re focusing on following your intuition and playfulness, Tammy!! 🙂
Sue – isn’t if funny about crayons? I love the smell of them and where it takes me – right back to my living room floor with a box of broken and well used crayons and a coloring bok or two, in front of the tv, with my BFF (now longest friend – 61 years!)
I smiled at your comment about crayons. I can almost smell them from here
