For AEDM2018 I am posting pictures of the 2nd project I will be working on during the month, a simple vest. The basis for the vest is a 2xx large men’s cotton T-shirt (a little less substantial than I wanted material wise but it’s an experiment). Cut it down the middle in the front, cut the sleeves out (past the seam), use pieces of the sleeves to make shoulder ties – tadah! you have a vest.
Now to play with hand sewn/painted up styling to make it unique. So far that includes paint, permanent marker, embroidery and beads.
Yesterday’s work was using my sample/play piece to cover the original pocket, picoting the edge of the new pocket and embroidering and beading the left neckline. The paint was done previous to AEDM’s start.
NaNoWriMo 2018
Yesterday I wrote 1,067 new words and worked to integrate pieces of stories I already have – writing more words and deleting but that was hard to keep a count. I uploaded 11,110 words for my first day. Because much of that was already written, just not integrated into any kind of story all together (I had to figure out how I wanted it to mesh – which may change again before the end of the writing, but for now I think I have it ordered in a way that makes (current) sense).
So a great start! I’m good at great starts. Hanging in all the way to the end is harder. I’m an initiator and get my energy from starting things. So this is great practice for me. And the end in sight helps urge me forward (look at me already talking about the end – see? I like initiation).

Elizabeth (sorry – just found your comment in my spam folder – who knows why) NO, this is absolutely not one day’s work. The pocket and beading on the left hand neck hem is one day. 🙂
The fabric does seem a little lightweight, but I love what you did with it.
Good start. I am better at starts than keeping going with challenges–LOL! Although I have kept up with the doodle and letting challenges because they fit into my morning journaling routine that is the only thing I AM consistent with. 😉
Thanks for stopping by my place earlier. This is turning out fantastic. I am in awe of your beading. You surely didn’t do all that (minus the paint of course) in a single day. If so, you are a beading guru.
I’m always a wee bit envious when I see beadworks mostly because its not my skill and apparently is yours. Such beautiful work. I grew up in a New York working-class neighborhood and when we were really young there was a bead shop at the end of our street. These immigrant women spent their days making lace and beaded fabric for couture houses…..and we know they weren’t treated well. Such incredible work and so underpaid and appreciated by the average person. I love what you’re doing here.
It looks so cool already!
