I haven’t been posting much for Art Every Day Month this year via blogging – which is all I have done in the past.  No, I’ve gotten lazy and just posted on the FaceBook page.  Blog take time which seems to be getting more and more limited (you know, my Mother didn’t make it to my age, but I can tell you surely that when she was 8 years younger than me, she had way more leisure.  I’m not sure whether I should be happy or jealous).

Anyways, to get to the step of joining the bead embroidery dangle to the main necklace, I needed to learn how to do the ladder stitch.  This is a basic, easy stitch.  I knew that and knew the right YouTube would have me up and running in no time.

Last week my husband bought me a small flat screen for my bead room so I wouldn’t have to run back and forth between there and my computer screen.  He had it set up.  I turned it on and managed to find my way to YouTube.  2 minutes into the video, everything went off.  Well who knew that yellow triangle means no internet connection – certainly not me (I do now).  Then we had to find the modem code.  That is now in my phone.  Then he suggested I put YouTube on my phone so I could use that keyboard because I was whining about the one letter at a time search on YouTube.  15 minutes and 3 different codes, that was set up.  Then I couldn’t find a good video.

So what I’m telling you is that all of this took nearly an hour (maybe slightly over – who’s timing).

At last I got to watch my video and make the first ladder.  Total time commitment 5 minutes.  Made a 2nd ladder – 3 minutes (it’s easy once you understand the concept).  15 minutes to get the pieces attached via the ladder.

And you think being an artist is easy.

  • Striking piece! Wow!

I’m lost when it comes to internet problems and computer issues. If it weren’t for my son and DIL I doubt I would be online at all–LOL!
