2009 tree This is our Christmas tree the day before it fell over.

Sometimes things fall apart.  When they do, the questions you ask yourself can make the difference between staying on the same level or using the adventure (I have quit using the word “problem” – words have power.  I am getting more and more aware of how I define my life out loud and in my own head).  Stay out of the drama of it happened because [add story].  Stay in the fact of:  this is what happened.  What do I want to do next?

The now Christmas tree looks much the same since we fixed it minus a few glass balls, and with some repaired old and precious hand made pieces.  Husband, not around for the original trimming (downtown DC during our snow storm of 2009) said:  it wanted me to help you decorate.  So we redid it back together again – and now it is apparently happy as it is still upright.

So, how was your 2009?  Mired in “oh, the economy is so bad how can I do [fill in the blank].  Is that a questions or a statement?  What language and questions are you feeding yourself for 2010 that will make a difference?

Here’s a great one from Maryanne Willaimson’s book The Age of Miracles:

What quantum leap will transition us from the level of consciousness at which we created our problems to a level of consciousness at which we’re able to miraculously solve them?

and another:

Who is it we are destined to be, that in our presence the dense thought-forms of hate will simply drop away?

Here’s one from me:

Are you willing to give up your life to continue living the way you are currently living? (because you are, you know, one day at a time).

Christine Kane say if everything you’re doing or planning on doing isn’t a “Hell YES!” then it should definitely be a “Hell, NO!”

Maryanne Willaimson again:  ” I can’t imagine a kind-of, sort-of, when-it’s conventinet, casually committed terrorist…our biggest problem isn’t just that a relatively few people hate with conviction; it’s that not enough of us love with conviction.”  And I would add: or do anything with so much conviction that there is never again a need for Plan B.

Why not commit this year to “Hell YES” and go for it?

  • I’m in the Hell Yes column here!

What a timely post. For much of the summer I was finding myself in the “Oh, the economy is so bad, I don’t have as many clients as I want” spot. Along about August I started contemplating what I needed to do about the situation. I even thought about doing some advertising.

My experience with ads is that they cost a lot of money and I don’t get any business from them, so I was really unwilling to commit money to something that hasn’t been helpful in the past. Then I remembered how powerful affirmation has been for me in the past, and I realized that I wasn’t really using that power.

don’t get me wrong, I was enjoying the time in the garden that having less clients enabled me to have, but I really was wanting to see more money coming in too. I immediately formulated an affirmation for my business, and started visualizing my book getting full of appointments again.

Voila! Within weeks my statement “People are calling me who I haven’t heard from in years. People are talking about my work.” was answered. I have heard from numerous people who got massages in the past and are now getting them again. New people are calling, all because my satisfied clients are talking about me.

What a great lesson. So for 2010, the use of affirmations will continue, and hopefully I will have plenty of work and still have time for the garden as well.

    Blessed be and Happy Solstice!
