This is the full picture of yesterday's commission totem. I just retook it. Then I discovered that the title had a dash in it and I had been looking in a non-dash section; apparently I am not completely consistant in titling totems. Some are totem – (name) and some are totem (name). So now I have two full pictures and you have one here.
I did not think I would get here today but it seemed a shame to miss the last day, so I pushed it a bit and here I am finishing the month and tying up loose ends. Another loose end is the final picture of the mask Leaf Lady. Two follow (front and side) = not good photos. Too much yellow which I can't get rid of without washing the photo out a bit. Lighting is terrible in the studio all of a sudden but here she is for now.
and last but not least, my offering for this last day of AEM: Totem: All of Me, approximately 30" tall (didn't measure her before I packed her away for loading into Heron's Way Gallery or Leonardtown Galleria tomorrow), one of a kind designed and shard pieces mounted on wood, by Tammy Vitale, $125.00
Art Every Day Month has been spectacular this year: much new work, many new blog friends, much amazement at all the talent out there and eternal gratefulness that there are folks likeLeah who generously provide a space for all of it.
thought for the day: When we work only to do, we most often find ourselves helplessly doing again without having placed the first doing in any context…Good work and goo deducatgion are achieved by visitation and then absence, appearance and disappearance….the hours become ripe with happening only when we are attentive, patient, and present. these are beautiful totems and your leaf lady is wonderful
tammy, I thought I had commented here but I guess I just thought it and didn't write it….ah menopause….anyway, as always everything is so very cool but the last one, "all of me" is fabulous….I want one but will have to wait on the money for this month anyway! she's beautiful and expressive and serene and emboldened, all at the same time…I love the way you built her up with little bits of this and that, like life and it's arrows…..
much love and happiness and joy to you during this very stressful season…hoping you are enjoying it's blessings…
XO
your hotmail was down so i came here to drop the message off to you.
this was at a little 'petting zoo' outside of chino where my daughter lives. it was a wierd little place and had stuff all over the yard. enough for many up coming posts which is good for me. there were all these random animals there – i think they must rescue them; exotic and farm animals. the fire that was burning two weeks ago stopped across the road from here. my daughter said they were pulling all the animals out.
it was a fun visit but is nice to be back. i feel lost and trying to remember what to do with my time. my tv died so I think I am getting a lot done but feeling guilty for not getting more done. the on switch is broken and it continually clicked on and off. I allowed it to continue for about three days and then the sound pushed me over the edge. it was a bit of a hassle as the tv sits in this big clunky entertainment center that i can't move. finally i put two hands on the cord and just pulled and pulled. I didnt care if anything else came undone (which it didnt). it was like chinese water torture.
Beautiful, Tammy – that Leaf Lady is especially gorgeous. It looks like you've had a wonderfully productive Art Everyday Month!
Leaf Lady is amazing! Good thing it was a commission piece, or I'd be spending some money that I shouldn't be spending!
Tammy, your work is so unique and beautiful! I LOVE these totems and your leaf lady is gorgeous! 🙂
I really (really) like the leaf lady.
I tried to answer your email but it looks like hotmail is bouncing…. I have bloglines on my site but i know a lot of people have a hard time reading my rss feed. I am not sure that I am doing it right. If you find out the answer; let me know as I am obviously not doing something right.
I like these long (tall) pieces – they're almost like collage in clay, to me. I particularly like the one with the small white faces, like moons, almost, and the red hearts. I like the colors, the composition, the way the shapes form the several figures… Unique and lovely piece, and it flows beautifully from top to bottom and back again.
I am so in love with these totems! They are so interesting in color and form.
Tammy, thanks for sharing these, I find the first totem so perfect, the composition of the elements, the colours , everything.
The leaf lady looks serene and the second totem too!
have a good day, and you thought for the day is very helpful for me today:) thanks so much,
Andrea
