The worst part of ceramics is waiting for the kiln to cool. Yes, I push it way more than I should and probably shorten the coil life, but really. It should cool faster!
I have peeped and see a glaze fail – will have to throw at least 2 pieces in the small kiln and run them back up and see if I can get the
bubblse to smooth out. 😥 Two pieces, same glaze, right next to the 2 fails are2 that are just fine. Go figure.
- Of course I can only see the top shelf. I have to wait about 6 more hours before I see the rest. And I can say that the color around her name is way darker than I would have liked but that’s ok.
In the meantime I have played with a new totem
and painted some of the vanity. The pink paint is crinkling. It is the same as all the rest of the paint but crinkling. I hope I’m not seeing a trend here. My plan is to paint the rest of the vanity by hand. And I have to fix the princess paper on the one end. I should have GACed it before I painted. Now is has a wrinkle.
It’ll all come together in the end and look as if I had it all planned this way all along. Sometimes that’s more than half the fun: taking what I get, which is never what my head sees in the first place, and allowing it to become what it wants to become.
And I really do need to remember to wear gloves when I’m painting!
Here are pictures of what I was painting (besides my hand).
