Spent the better part of today with the fabulous Tricia Hall of the Bead Boutique in Prince Frederick learning how to create handmade ear wires and head pins for jewelry, and afterwards sat and made this piece of fine silver wrapped, “caged” labradorite pendant. It’s a shame my camera doesn’t take a better picture because this labradorite has some really beautiful flashes of blue – but you can only see one patch. There are several more towards the top of the piece. This is most definitely a “statement” piece! I LOVE it! Also made the earrings which are pretty much just long headpins (handmade of course) and beads. All in all a fabulous day of creating!
As soon as this goes up, I’m off to iron work clothes. It has been a very long time since my life had that requirement and I can’t say it’s one of the more thrilling recent additions to my todo list, but todo it is until done. Maybe I should add that on here as creative too!

[…] I had an ulterior motive: I need space to play with fusing silver, soldering silver and playing with muddling metal (all of which I learned earlier this month and reported on here and here and here). […]
Julie – Tricia offers come and play classes to her customers where she sits with us but doesn’t
charge for teaching, just materials. It’s for folks who’ve taken enough classes that she doesn’t
have to babysit. Basically I did the caged labradorite after the play class, copying a design she
developed for found object necklaces she sells. She’s wonderfully generous!
Here, here – ironing may be very creative! Naturally I usually only iron paper for my projects but nonetheless! tee hee hee hee.
Even without your camera being absolutely perfect I can tell how gorgeous this piece is. Lovely work, Tammy. It sounds like such a fruitful class!
