Transformation. Coloring Book Page. Help Yourself. by Tammy Vitale

If you can’t get this picture to download, go here to my Facebook Album where I am also posting my coloring book pages for AEDM 2010.  Use the “download in high resolution” link under the photo on the right.  You get an 8×10 picture for your coloring pleasure! (you can “friend” me here.)  Post your colored-in pages here.

The dragonfly is in this picture because I’ve been thinking about transformation, how each stage of life is a death and rebirth.  And how we go through labor pains giving birth to the next stage and birth canal fear as  we pass from one stage into the next.   Can the dragonfly nymph in the water imagine the dragonfly adult soaring overhead?

The stories we tell ourselves are the water we swim in.  Can you imagine stepping out of the water and soaring into the sky?

In Celtic mythology, the dragonfly is often the transitional home of the soul between one life and the next. Its flight and aerial acrobatics capture our attention and inspire our hearts.Dragonflies inhabitant water, but with maturity, learn to fly while staying close to the water. Those with dragonfly affinities may have had emotional and passionate early years, but as they get older, they achieve balance with mental clarity and control.

The dragonfly is associated with color magic, mysticism and illusion. To some Native American tribes they are connected with water and Springtime, fertility, and renewal. (link here)

Let’s face it.  We humans get really comfortable with certain stages of our life.  Even when that stage begins to chafe and itch, we are quite capable of using our amazing analytical powers to convince ourselves that here is where we belong.  Here is where we are happiest.  What we really mean is that here is where we know the outcomes of actions and reactions.  Here is where we believe we have control in a chaotic world.  Control is an illusion.  Release it.

Go ahead.  Color outside the lines.

What would you die for?  Because the truth is sooner or later we all are going to die, and you are moving toward that one day at a time.  The way you spend each day of the time you have is what you are willing to die for.  Tammy Vitale

The heart knows.  There’s nothing to choose.  Just something to set loose….The vagueness will clear when you decide to embrace whatever you hear…You came with instincts and imperatives and they will thrust through the mud and bud in their own glad season.  It’s not your answers or ideas that you need to worry about.  It’s your resistance to your ideas, any immediate reaction to choke the strange and uncomfortable…the heart always knows.  You have everything you need.  Tama Kieves This Time I Dance

Melissa – happy to supply coloring pages. And it’s about time I start coloring them myself!

Need to get through Saturday’s show and then life slows down a bit.

  • Cool and nice lines, I love coloring pages, awesomeO!

  • Sue: Ah. Scorpio. Somehow both of my kids partnered with Scorpios. I love Scorpios for at least 3 months. Then our firey natures seem to get in the way. But I don’t have to live with their partners and I like them both. So. Perhaps I too am in transformation!

Dawn – it’s all those bold black lines. I guess if you are good at making stained glass windows you could use this for a pattern! It would be pretty to see it made into a tissue paper stained glass piece!

  • reminds me of stained glass, very pretty!

  • there was more to the thought – my mind wandered – and that is, november is scorpio’s month, and scorpio is about transformation.

  • Ellie – you’re welcome!

Sue – You know, it so is! It’s the cocooning part. Not necessarily my favorite, but a requisite

  • november is such a good month for all this transforming stuff.

  • love the pages you are creating – thanks for sharing!!!
