On days that speed by too fast, when errands of every day life must be run, a fire must be built, a taste of work for the part-time job needs to be dealt with – on those days, there’s nothing like a fast doodle to take up the banner of “art for the day”.
The *really* fun news about this particular doodle is that it is ensconced in an altered book that I started for AEDM in 2006. It it my go-to art-for-the-day when outside the sky is darkening and all my well laid plans (in this instance, to finish a necklace i have had set out for a week) go for naught. You can find some of the previous pages in this altered book here:
Which also answers a question I’ve had since starting this year’s AEDM: how long have I been doing this? It turns out that I’ve been doing it for 7 years! And if you’d like to track down more, just scroll down to my “archives” at the bottom of the page and browse any November since then. The last two I believe I’ve managed to do it every day. There were several years where I didn’t manage every day, but do I need to tell you this has become a touchstone for me? It has! It has!
Here’s another fun thing you can do. In the past, I used to include a “Wylde Women’s Wisdom” quote every day: first as “thought for the day” and then as “Wylde Women’s Wisdom”. I discontinued that, because for several years I had a subscription service where you could get the quotes delivered to your inbox daily. And then I discontinued that.
But earlier this year I set up a way for folks missing those quotes to get a daily dose: Fortune Cookies. When you refersh, you get a new quote (so you don’t have to wait for tomorrow). Go ahead, enjoy!
