AEDM 2017 – day 5 – Something I didn’t anticipate

A Dream of Myself, ceramic mask by Tammy Vitale, TammyVitale.com

For today’s submission I thought I wouldn’t have enough time to do finished work, so I sketched 3 marker pictures into my journal, and created one collage backing page.

aedm - 5 - universe sings aedm - 5 - speak truth

As these things sometimes go, however, I found that one thing led to another….so much so that I wound up journaling about it [what you see on the left.  The right pretty much provided day 3’s blog….]…all these interlocking pieces.

and then circled the truth of the of-the-top-of -my-head thoughts:  “one plus one plus one…something I didn’t anticipate…a cumulative effect” that led to finishing that journaling as a page and coloring in one of the sketches.  Which is to say, suddenly my mediocre art/writing journal has lept alive for me as a result of working on it regularly.  I maybe should have saved some of these for an off day, but am so pleased with the energy, I’m just going to trust it will keep coming.

THEN, I circled back and colored the bleed-through page from the back of AEDM2017 – day 1‘s submission.  (Rita at Soul Comfort Blog , that’s especially for you).

And I finished “Stranger Things” season 2 while I was at it.

A very VERY VERY satisfying evening!  And it caught me totally by surprise.

I love when that happens!

  • Sweet! I love when that happens, too. What a great day. Glad you colored her bleeding backside–LOL! Love the sketches and that you are enjoying your journaling!! 🙂

I just finished the new Dark Matter season and a series called Lilies that Netflix is going to remove in about a month. Stranger Things new season is next on my list. 😉 Have a great week!!

  • JM – funny you call them realistic – I think of them as representative…you can figure out what they are…but not realistic. I used to do realistic but now I don’t hav the patience for it. *I* would like to be able to do good abstracts! We always want what we don’t have….

  • Elizabeth – what a great idea…file folders and 3 ring binders. I’m always looking for ways to get organized. I never manage – I’m generally an organized chaos person. I lose things when it gets too neat.

Thanks for your kind words – I love doing line drawings and coloring them in. It’s very meditative for me, plus doing them strengthens my “eye” I think.

I love your art. I do abstract work then I see your drawings and I want to draw realistic things……..I go back and forth. Your color sense and lines are amazing.

  • Wow, oh wow. Your art is fabulous. I can’t draw at all, so I’m really impressed with your drawings. You created far more today than I did. Some days it takes me two just to come up with an idea. Your art today put mine to shame. This is wonderful.

To answer your question about my challenges, I have several altered books going at once, and this one will focus mostly on various challenges I’m working on. Sometimes I work using used file folders that I add to my 3-ring binder. It just depends on my mood and the size of the images I have to work with. Thanks for asking.
