aedm 13 fire in the woodstove

It’s that time of year when the rhythm of my life makes room for fire building to keep my home warm.

It always makes me think of the women who tended the hearth in past years, how important it was to keep the embers alive, how blessed I am to live in a time where keeping embers alive is no longer life and death because I have lighters and matches and paper for kindling.  Rain?  I have my kindling in a plastic garbage can with breathing holes where it stays dry through rain and snow.

I am filled with gratitude day in and day out  for this life I have been born into and the grace that fills it.

  • This really resonated with my soul! Blessed be indeed! 🙂 Every year, even when it’s cleaning time, I am so thankful for our dual fuel furnace. In the morning, the propane kicks on after the wood fire has died out so all I have to do is load it back up and it lights itself.
