Yay! it’s here and so am I. With something short and sweet and at least I’ve managed one day of this and that makes me happy.
Haiku
daffodils snow blanketed
yet blooming like tiny suns
splendid defiance
hot house tropicals
steaming behind paned windows
dream of summer
I am neither snow
nor steam but caught between
defiance and dreams
There isn’t any snow here right now. This is based on an experience I had over a decade ago, working in the field and caught in a heavy snow squall in a car with no heat, and thus nothing to melt the snow off the windshield. It was stressful. My B&B wasn’t open yet and so I stopped to eat at a small restaurant that was heavy on the meat menu (which I don’t eat) and wound up with an egg sandwich, potato chips and a glass of wine.
Somewhere I have the journal page for that adventure. I’m too lazy to go find it this morning. My creative area hasn’t recovered from the big move from one house to another after 24 years in one place. Neither have I.

Lovely! I will be reading all month. 🙂 🙂
I love this and how you tied Mother Nature to your nature.
thank you!
I love reading your work, always. Never a disappointment. The image of the daffodils is so warm and penetrate the soul. I love this!!! I feel that contrast of icy cold and new life.
