Wylde_women_prototype_finished Wylde Women, hand made multi-media clay wall sculpture by Tammy Vitale.

Caron, here is your Wylde Woman, who doesn’t yet have a name, which I will leave to you (and hope that you will leave a note here about her naming), or a story, yet, but here is the Prototype.  This is the first Wylde Woman and she is marked "prototype" on the back, in the clay, and signed and dated.  I tried to get a few closer up photos so you could see her necklace:  a feather with 3 swarovski clear crystals (maiden, mother, crone) and jasper at her shoulders (over the hanging wire).  Her skin is light blue (using the blue that I will eventually run out of and can’t replace, which may just make this a limited run…going until I run out).  She is finished with stain and metallics, lightly coated with a clear overspray.

I decided against glaze at least for the first two because it is so shiny that I thought it might take away from the earthiness of the piece.  I am thinking of another glaze that I have that has a matt finish, is a coppery green with blue "breaks" in the recesses.  I may use that from here on out.  It may be that the first two are the only ones with stain.  I have to see where the Muse leads me.

She will be mailed in the bag (she’s on top of here) that is called a WrapSack- and made to be regifted. Each person who receives it goes on line and registers and that way we will see how it travels (I got it for late Christmas (last week)from a long time friend, who decided that I was the best person to pass it along to since I know so many interesting people…and she’s so right!  I can’t think of a better way to pass it along than this!)

I started a 24 x 36 abstract painting yesterday which is on its way to be finished.  I took Elizabeth’s advice (Feb 10 comments) about being willing to make a bad painting to get me jump started.  That was good advice.  Because I can see that even abstracts need some kind of organizing principle and this one will release that for me.  I’ll post a picture of it when it’s finished, which it isn’t yet.  It may turn into multi-media before all is said and done just because I’ve been hanging out here with so many fantastic collage artists and have been inspired to try that out.  So while I’m out there in the open creating just to see what happens, it seems only natural to head in that direction.

Today is physical therapy and reiki day.  I should feel great by tonight!

thought for the day:  Taking any step that is courageous, however small, is a way of bringing any gifts we have to a surface, where they can be received.  For that we have to come out of hiding, out from behind the insulation.  In a way, we come to an understanding of ourselves in our work according to where we have established our edge.  Wherever our edge of understanding has been established is the very place we should look more intently, but it is also the very place that fills us most with fear.  David Whyte, Crossing the Unknown Sea:  Work as a Pilgrimage of Identity
