Light and Dark in Santa Fe

1.  Great excitement and lots of yummy things being added on my website!  For instance, I have broken my Sell Your Art Keep Your Soul course into modules, and added several new ones not covered in the course (including a module on16+ venues with direction for research and how to approach them).  These are offered at unbelievably low prices!  You get to pick and choose which ones suit your needs best now without having to take out a loan to amp up your business!

2.  How To Make A Spirit Doll is also now available.  Simple directions and tons of pictures make this an easy afternoon project.

3.  More great links to investigate since this summer seems to be full of people writing things I think you’ll enjoy reading (and I know I enjoy sharing) such as: Square Peg Reflections.  You know – you’re the square peg and the world is the round hole.  Ain’t it great to have company?!

4.  Patty Digh on doing readings in homeless shelters.  My starting to work on a project I call Hunger, Homeless and Hope here in my home county, weaving together (I hope) churches and their youth, businesses, artists, art organizations and folks who are hungry or need a home, drawing on 20 years of community-based organizing skills I haven’t used much in the last 10 years (except for 6 month stretches here and there).  I’ve been called – I ignore these kinds of calls at my own peril.  had my first meeting toward that this morning.  Totally Psyched!

5.  This awesome blog called Changing Places.

6.  Enough Money to Quit the Day Job  on the blog Unapologetically Wonky.  Seemed to fit my on-going theme of following your heart – you’ll love this!

7. Pearls Before Breakfast an old “Washington Post” article about art and the context of art and a great violinist playing a Stratavarius worth millions and being ignored in a metro stop in D.C.  Real life stories – always better than fiction.  Go ahead.  Give yourself permission to read the whole thing.  For artists it should show you that being ignored has nothing to do with being good at what you do.  Heck – that goes for everyone – not just artists!

And some bonuses (always overdeliver; always!)Creative Every Day by Leah – always something going on there worth joining in; DaniFakeWebb’s July “I believe…” challenge; lots of delicious quotes from Thinking too hard.

There’s more.  But it’s 5pm and I still need to start unpacking boxes from the shed – art work that needs to come out in the air after 4 years of darkness.  Darkness to light – just like the photo above.  It will be like Christmas only better – because I already know I love these presents!

  • Awesome to see all of the lovelies you are adding!!! Also I’m really really excited about number 4. When it works, I’ll try to help “sell” it to the community center I volunteer at. They do a lot of work with the homeless. I’m proud of you and excited for what is coming!!!!!
