May 1 – June 13:  Lexington Park Library Gallery, joint show with Mary Ida Rolape.  May 9, 5 – 8pm, Reception.

Over the past several years, Mary Ida Rolape and Tammy Vitale have explored new ideas, shared skill sets and done a lot of playing and experimenting with techniques together.  They mostly credit the playfulness for expanding their vision toward multi-media collage and sculptural assemblage.  Each has found a love of mixing media, collage, found and created objects greatly expanding the way they approach their individual works.

Presented are Rolape’s  undertaking of various media, including photographs, in her canvas work and Vitale’s engagement with art journaling design transferred to canvas.. The sculptural assemblage pieces  Rolape and Vitale are showing are work they have both come to within the last year.  Each artist came to this work by the same pathway:  3D sculpture, to the mixed media canvas work just mentioned,  to sculptural assemblage. 

In the collaboration for this show at the Lexington Park Library Gallery, Rolape and Vitale have found that lovely space where generosity of spirit affects outcome of art work – each willing to share time, material and knowledge with the other, as well as encouragement and help in answering the technical and energy questions which inevitably arise in creating new work with new materials.
