Studio Work
Our Lady Peace, finished next to in kiln drying to fire, hand and slab built clay by Tammy Vitale.
I reworked Lady of the Night’s finish too.
I am getting ready for my November show at Joie de Vivre in Cambridge and working on torso groupings: torso, mask, or masks, totem. Of course I will also have word tiles and fish, but the main thrust will be built around torso and that around finshes. Lady of the Night was created copying an earlier mask (as close as ever I copy, which isn’t very) to show a shop owner in North Carolina who wasn’t interested in fish (drat – I can mail them), but was interested in the mask on my business card.
Today is raku: two torsos, two fish and a mask, all of which I glazed yesterday, after making a fresh batch of DelFaveo raku glaze. Untested of course since I went and used it directly. Which is actually a no-no but sure does increase the adventure of what comes out. Am hopeful it will all work just fine.
Here’s yesterday’s work (what I took pictures of, one torso, the one that’s cracking, is missing): masks, torsos (one of which is cracking as it dries as of this morning).
What you are looking at: drying masks: Serenity, Sprite and Jaguar man. Fish and mask, Pearl, glazed for raku. Torso, Beach B.tch, drying.
