Studio_fish_and_mask_drying Studio of Tammy Vitale, Tam’s Originals:  Mask and fish drying

There seems to be an inverse correlation between amount of time spend blogging and amont of time spent in the studio.  You may have noticed I have not been blogging.  I have, however, been in the studio.  I am working on stockpiling for the coming selling season and have made 30 fish, 75 word tiles and one mask (an allowance to the part of me who doesn’t necessarily believe in all grindstone work.  Although the fish are hardly grindstone – I LOVE making fish!).

I have pulled out all of the work that’s been packed and traveling among galleries and shops and sorted it (sort of).  I have refreshed work at Common Grounds in Owings and Sea Scapes in North Beach.  Sea Scapes is one of my newest shops.  Owner Lisa Payne has assembled a lovely shop with wonderful furniture and home decor.  Click over or, if you’re local, drop in and browse.

The work is paying off.  Yesterday I received notice (by way of check) that two more torsos have sold, this time at A Step Above in Berlin, MD.  The Eastern Shore of Maryland seems to be THE hot spot for torsos!

Alchemy is expanding and adding a store in Takoma Park to their store in Silver Spring.  We are playing tag email wise about more work and I think I’ll have to break down and call her.

Finally, I am using most of today to get ready for teaching a class in making tiles and fish tomorrow with the Calvert Artists Guild.

In and amongst business, of course, is life.  If you want to catch up with the saga of our house being on the market, check out my myspace blog.

Here are some photos of what I’ve been doing (lots and lots of things on the drying rack)(and some assortment of zodiac, elemental and word tiles gathered on the workbench getting hangers).  Enjoy!
