Torso – male, with emperor dragon, 26" tall, hand-sculpted slab base, by Tammy Vitale.

Pre-peek of one of the first pieces for Sacred.  Will go with a female torso and two masks.  All of these will be based around Kuan Yin.  Just so you know I’m actually getting into the studio and not just sitting here playing with beads.

Have I mentioned that I am addicted to playing with beads?

In case I haven’t just look what I’ve played with today:  ring, and Ocean Jasper necklace and matching earrings ($110 for the set)(following)

After I finish posting this, I will move on along to wrapping a few more presents.  I am happily working through that without feeling even a little bit stressed.  I have given myself the gift of doing what I want to do, in the order I want to do it, with no self pressure to get anything in particular done.

The lovely result of this is that ideas are starting to flow for the studio as well as playing with my beads.  I expect to have 2 or 3 more torsos finished b this time next week.  With no pressure!  Or stress!  Merry Holidays to me!

thought for the day:  By now the true hibernators, such as woodchucks and bears, have settled in for a long, deep sleep.  Chipmunks, on the other hand, are spasmodic hibernators and will wake up from time to time to go to their pantries for a snack.  The great migrating flocks of birds have arrived at their winter roosts.  Butterflies, too.  Their migration seems even more miraculous…Hold a butterfly in your hand, and you will truly understand the word flutter.  See one fly straight at you at eye level, its delicate wings beating vortices in the air, and you will feel for an instant that you are flying.  Each butterfly is unique.  It’s hard to imagine a fat butterfly, but like humans they do have fat reserves, and some are fatter than others.  They have various builds, diverse color patterns, uniquely shaped wings, and different black-and-white speckled bodies.  Diane Ackerman, Cultivating Delight:  A Natural History of My Garden

  • I absolutely LOVE what you have going on here with this torso – fabulous detailing! Glad to see that the bead addiction is alive and well, too. If I don't get back here, have a wonderful Christmas, Tammy. Will you see your son, too? Peace, my new friend.

  • The torso is just amazing, Tammy. I like the idea of your gift to yourself – just going with the flow and working on whatever you feel like doing at the moment. Judging by the way this torso and your jewelry have turned out, that seems to be working out pretty well!
Reading your thought for the day, I think I can identify with the chipmunks 🙂

  • Wow. Stunning. Beautiful, touching art. Thank you for sharing.

  • Hi Tammy, the torso is amazing, love the dragon and the way his body embraces the torso.
The necklaces are beautiful and I'm glad you are moving on effortlessly, free of pressure, like a butterfly… Have a good day

This torso is FANTASTIC – can't wait to see it after its finished. It always amazes me how much I get done when I'm doing everything to my own rhythms. Things just seem to happen and I sometimes wonder if its that I'm not 'overthinking' but just doing, humming along in my own little world.

  • OMG. This torso is one of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen. Wow.

    Wow.
