Pollack!

Here’s the last of the raku batch from the other day.  Pay close attention to the left side of the mask and the wonderful turqoise crackle.  I’m thinking maybe it’s oxidation that gives me that and so I’ll have to experiment a bit with timing before I put that glaze into the fire.  I would love to get a full torso with that turqoise crackle all over it!

Have been the grasshopper this past weekend, fiddling with Luxor II (silly game) and shopping for office furniture with husband instead of packing for 3 load ins this week.  On of which is today at the Bead Boutique in Prince Frederick Maryland.  So this must be short and I must be off to the studio and be a good little artist.

Lucky for me, friend Dianne sent along a lovely little link which I used to make today’s AEM – a total goof:  http://www.jacksonpollock.org/.  Anyone who knows me knows I don’t think he’sJackson_pollock  an artist but whoever came up with this little jewel is okay by me.  You get a blank white slate.  Click your mouse and you have a color, click again and the color changes.  She sent it for my grandson, I wrote her back and said:  are you kidding?  I’d play with this all day (but must get into the studio).  See, if I type it enough it won’t feel all that bad, getting into the studio and packing.  Sigh.  I just want to be off for a while.

Some would say I’ve been off for a long while! (smile)

thought for the day:  Begin where you are.  Attend to your current state.  We tend to skip this part, leaping blindly toward wherever we think we should be.  But there is gold to be mined from what we find in our habitual and automatic states.  Victoria Castle, The Trance of Scarcity:  Hey! begin where you are… i often try to get back to where I was when I stopped last time (creatively); that can be frustrating and more often then not – impossible.

    Thanks for the reminder!

Women V is magnificent! She looks thought-full and curious, I think it's the tilt of her head. And what rich colors, especially that turquoise crackle you pointed out on the mask. You are very talented and full of rich colors, curiosity, and thought-fullness yourself:-)

Hi Tammy, Wonderful art. It's totally beyond where I'm at. The link – I've seen it. How cool. I could easily see myself using it as a procrastination tool.

Being where I am is my absolute biggest challenge right now.

Thanks for the reminder. I love Jackson Pollock's work. It's really quite amazing, his paintings are so large you totally lose yourself in them.

Oh, I didn't it in my other comment, so I'll say it now- I love your sculpture. It reminds me of one of my favourite artists/story tellers Brain Andreas of Story People. Something magical about it.
