Plaque Mr. Blue . heron  Mr. Blue, 17.5"t x 7"w wall plaque, one of a kind, slab rolled and hand sculpted by Tammy Vitale $110.00

Every now and then I have to make a Southern Maryland bird.  I have a big annual show coming up, Unique Boutique, and in my wild abandon of creativity even made space for a blue heron.  My disdain for the ubiquity of herons in the art of Southern Maryland is widely know, so in addition to making something new, I'm also making fun of myself a bit every time I make a bird (still have refrained from boats and barns, but you just never know where the creative bug will take you).

thought for the day:  Meister Eckhart radically revises the whole notion of spiritual programs.  He says that there is no such thing as a spiritual journey.  If a little shocking, this is refreshing.  If there were a spiritual journey, it would be only a quarter inch long, though many miles deep.  It would be a swerve into rhythm with your deeper nature and presence.  The wisdom here is so consoling.  You do not have to go away outside yourself to come into real conversation with your sould and with the mysteries of the spiritual worls.  The eternal is at home – within you.  John O'Donohue Anam Cara:  A Book of Celtic Wisdom

  • Oh my goodness, what an amazing blog! I have been lucky enough to receive a Wylde Woman Award – I have put a link to your blog on mine

  • Heron art might be plentiful in your area, but it looks very refreshing out here where you don't often see it. I like this guy a lot – he reminds me of my egret crossing the road…
It's a little late – but Happy Halloween!

  • I just found your blog, and it is wonderful. A bit of a homecoming. I've never "met" anyone else who has read Anam Cara. John O'Donohue is my very favortie writer. Right now I'm rereading his book, Beauty. I think I like it maybe even more than Anam Cara… these two books are my absolute favorites. I've been on the path of discovering the feminine divine myself for about the last eight years. I grew up a Utah Mormon. I still live in old patriarchial Utah and it's a struggle sometimes after the awakenings I've experienced. I am so happy to have found your blog. It's pointing me in the direction I have known I need to take my blog and my art in– I just haven't been that brave yet. Thanks.
