Snow 3.09 bluebird couple  Snow 3.09 cardinal and bluebird  Snow 3.09 hairy woodpecker

Snow 3.09 white breasted nuthatch  Snow 3.09 my car

Snow 3.09 driveway  Snow 3.09 road at bottom of driveway  Snow 3.09 snowed trees against blue sky

bluebird couple, purple finch (upper left) and cardinal, hairy woodpecker (you'll have to click on it) and whitebreasted nuthatch.  They came along with a mockingbird which we never see in this yard, blue jays, sparrows, juncos (which we call snow birds because they only come out when it snows), a towhee, a thrush, finches (yellow in their winter clothes), titmice (titmouses?), chickadees…a veritable movie of birds I could watch all day.  We got 12 inches!  That's our driveway, followed by a picture further down the driveway so you can see the road.  Our own private ski jump.  It's gorgeous but the hollys' took a pretty good beating (that's one bent down over the driveway – we had to top it).  Husband finally got to use the snowblower we bought years ago after hand digging about 12 inches on the driveway only to have it snow another 10 within 2 days.  That was enough.  And then all we got was bits and pieces of snow.  Until last night.  It is soooo beautiful!

  • Your little birds are soo cute and beautiful. I have a bird feeder and they have hearty appetites!!!

  • Beautiful photos! I love snow pix and I love that I don't have to deal with snow. Haha!

  • Oh, you have bluebirds already, they didn't get here yet. But it sounds like spring outside here with all the little winged things singing up a storm, but still looks like a winter wonderland. Love those bird pics-keep 'em coming!

  • Oh how gorgeous! And look at all the birdies! I'm a wee bit jealous now 😉

  • I don't mind winter. Never have. I figure there is nothing I can do about it short of moving to Florida or further south. Then I would need to deal with hurricanes and tornados' on a yearly basis. So I'll stick with the snow. We had a lot this year in southern Ontario in Canada but not as much as the last 2 years. So we complain but not too loudly. LOL.
Tammy, your pictures are just beautiful. You captured the birds and the beauty of the snow perfectly! I wish I was camera friendly. Unfortunately cameras and me don't get along very well so I am content to let others do the work while I do the watching.
    Works for me…LOL!
    As always, thanks for sharing.
Have a good downhill slide to the weekend.

  • I love your bird pictures! The bluebirds look cold!

That's the great thing about snow. It is so beautiful as long as you don't want or need to go anywhere. We tend to hunker down when it snows. The same storm dumped on us before it hit you, and it was a real dumper too, anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of snow falling in about an hour and a half. Lots of accidents, the interstate was closed for a while due to one that involved spilled gasoline. All due to people who are in such a hurry that they just can't be bothered to slow down even when there is a blizzard happening all around them. My supplies of compassion and sympathy towards them are becoming more and more limited.

  • OMG that little bird IS SO CUTE!!!!!!!

  • what beautiful pics, tammy! I love the little bluebird couple…so sweet!

  • talk about gorgeous!!! this is spectacular! amazing to see all these snow pictures in march, isn't it? I kept hearing about these storms but of course, here, it's just a gentle rain when we need a real gusher because calif. is in a drought….love your bird pictures, most especially the blue birds…I have two boxes up and they are both spoken for and am thinking about putting up another…they are having a comeback around here finally.

I have enjoyed your other posts of the art show and your beads are beautiful…and your poetry is very moving, I loved it! well, have fun in that white wonderland of yours!

    xoxo
