Next to my desk is a stack of 10 books from the library on various aspects of the nonprofit world.  I am setting up a curriculum and outlining what I’d like covered.  On my desk a spirit doll awaits mailing to her forever home, resting on top of next month’s bills and underneath notes from today’s meeting that I just transcribed and put into what I hope is legible order.  Under my left elbow a lined notebook I have used for daily creativity with notes on top of a notebook for my homebased work and on the very top, just under my elbow and still wet, this evening’s offering for AEDM.

I am fearless.

Because the stars are out (and would have been whether or not the time changed – it’s that late), and my body is starting to feel the fact that it woke up at 4 a.m. this morning and refused to go back to sleep, it was either jump in with both feet for today’s specific creativity piece, or throw in the towel and play Zuma Blitz.

I am fearless.

Both feet, both hands, my head and my heart – we all jumped.

First I had to find a reasonably sized sketchbook because I tend to large ones and they take time.  It’s very likely someone would have found me with my face in wet watercolor paint snoring lightly had I tried my usual 16 x 24.

Once the sketchbook was located (a very reasonable 9 x 12 size), it became: do I think or do I put my pen on paper and go for it.  Went for it.  Defaulted to the dragonfly because it is a favorite:  death/rebirth/transformation.  And what is fearlessness if not that?!

3 minutes to draw, one to find a theme and note it on the drawing.  Five minutes to watercolor (after 10 minutes of trying to locate them).

Put together this post and, wah-la!  Today’s offering for Art Every Day Month.

What would you do if you were fearless?

Here’s how some Awesome Women answered that question.  Watch for it – I’m in there (Living in the Question).

  • This is what I am loving about participating in AEDM – the motivation to produce something each day without overthinking. It feels fearless. I love the dragonfly, and the message x
