Sea Nettle, ceramic, bead, wire, 9.5 " by Tammy Vitale $28

Pumpkin cornbread with Winter Squash and Black Bean Chili

Let me quickly clear up that the Sea Nettles have nothing to do with the dinner!

Here are two more little beauties from my brand new Sea Nettles line.  I am enjoying making them as it is not thought heavy – just chasing beads around to get them on the wire.  I am thinking about putting some on beading wire to see if it looks better flowy instead of stiff and arrangeable (the wire gives me a lot of options for arranging the nettles).

I don’t venture out into new dishes often, but two that I’ve run across during Art Every Day Month intrigued me, so I made them togethe for my diner last night.

Love the Winter Squash and Black Bean Chili.  I made it very (very!) mild.  The texture is wonderful!  The pumpkin cornbread:  tasty by very dry.  More pumkin maybe would have made a difference.  I like my cornbread moist.

    thanks everyone!
They did very well on their first showing. I’m offering both finished
and make your own (just the caps in various sizes) with a quick “how-to” when purchased. That does as well as the finished ones! I’m also selling the caps through a local Bead Shop.

  • Love these sea nettles–and I really love what the curled wire does as well–it creates such delicate, lovely movement and an interesting kind of airy volume that balances out the top ceramic piece so nicely.

  • Your sea nettles are gorgeous!

And your yummy looking dinner has made me very hungry 🙂

  • OMGosh, I’m loving the sea nettles — soooooooooo whimsical and lovely! You know, I did discover you can eat nettles from the forest — did you know? My favorite way is to do up a little thinly sliced garlic in olive oil, then dump in bag full of nettle, cover and let it steam. The nettles sort of get a little crispy, too, I think from the olive oil. Just incredibly yumalicious!

  • awesome creations – great work
